Trying to figure out what order this Nun is a part of?

Hi everyone,

I apologize if this is in the wrong area; I couldn’t decide between this section and the Back Fence.

I came across this picture on Tumblr today, and from researching different orders for the past couple of hours, I can’t seem to match the habit to an order. I know I shouldn’t be so concerned about it, but for some reason, I feel drawn to find out, and to know more about the order and the habit.

I tried to look around too, with no success. Are you certain that this is a Catholic religious habit and not, perhaps, some manner of middle eastern clothing?
 
The habit is Carmelite if brown. I can’t tell from the image.
 
Hmmmm, the problem is that there is little detail of her habit. It is pretty normal for postulants to wear a white veil and dark dress or vice versa.

The background looks like the SouthWest US to me.

It is a lovely picture 🙂

That’s what I was thinking, maybe in the Arizona/New Mexico region.

I know the image was taken at a very odd angle, and to me, it looks brown in the sunlit area, yet it looks black where there’s no light, towards the bottom. I’ll keep searching, and I do appreciate all of your answers very much. 🙂

Excellent work!!! Thank you for answering a question that intrigued me and others. I guess when I see Arizona/New Mexico/California geography it makes me think of the Middle East.

Thank you so much! I didn’t think it looked like a Poor Clare habit, and I skipped over all the Poor Clare orders on a religious orders website, thinking I knew it wasn’t that order. :rolleyes: Haha, thank you! 😃 I spent about a week in New Mexico and Arizona last year, and the image of the desert is set in my mind permanently. 😉 Thanks again!
 
Considering it’s a little white girl, I think middle east may have been just a bit of a stretch.
 
I know! That is a Poor Clare of Perpetual Adoration. Guessing from the background, she lives in the monastery in Arizona. 🙂

No, I know it’s true. However, I don’t want the Moderators to take it the wrong way, and then have 1) my thread closed/deleted, and/or 2) have my account suspended or banned.

If I may ask, do you know the definition of antisemitism?
