I’m looking for a small Psalter, small enough to carry in my purse along with the little Byzantine Horologion I am transcribing from various sources for my personal use. No larger than 6" x 9", with the numbering according to the LXX (since those are the reference numbers I am using in my Horologion), and optimally printed out in ‘sense lines’ for ease in chanting either silently (for when I must pray one or more of the Hours in a public place) or aloud. It is not necessary that the Kathismata be marked; I can do this myself.
Can anyone help?

Holy Transfiguration Monastery has put out a small Psalter that’s only about 14.95 and seems to be a worthy addition to everyone’s spiritual library.

Now I must see if I can figure out how to print on each side of my paper…

**Print all the odd numbered pages, then turn the sheets over and print the even numbered pages.

Then fold or cut down the middle.

It’s arranged as a fold-over booklet, but can be bound up with the Horologion.**

Yes, I have it figured out now…this is going to be wonderful. 👍

Yes, the HTM Psalter is superb. I have yet to find one better in print and binding quality, print size (especially for reading by candlelight) and translation.

My only complaint is missing the penitential prayers which are in the Slavonic Psalters; obviously the HTM is a translation from Greek for the Greek usage so it would not traditionally have these.

I haven’t seen the Holy Myrrbearers’ Psalter, but it sounds nice. The OCA translation printed in Canada I have; what is nice about this volume is that the penitential prayers at the end of each Kathisma from the Slavonic Psalter are included for those who wish to recite the Psalter in place of the Horologion, an ancient monastic practice, as are the Biblical Odes and the “service of the twelve psalms” popular for many monastics.

I have a copy of the English translation of the Slavonic Psalter published in L’viv; the English translation was done by Frs. Shary and Weisgoff of the St. Joseph Institute (Ukrainian Catholic) in the 1970s. They also translated all of the notes, prayers before and after each kathisma, nine odes, etc. There are a few of these still floating around.

There is also a photocoy of the Greek Catholic Union Psalter of the 1920s is available on the Patronage website. patronagechurch.com/documents/GCU_Psalter/gcu_psalter.htm Unfortunately the GCU Psalter did not translate the after-kathismata prayers.

Thank you Edward and Nicholas for the Pocket Psalter info…will order one tomorrow.
