Does anyone know of any traditional parishes (adheres to the liturgical rules) near the Arundel Mills area (just south of Baltimore airport)?
I just moved into the area this week and today is my first Sunday. I did some church hunting and found Holy Trinity in Glen Bernie and went to the 10:00 am mass. Unfortunately, I witnessed liturgical abuses with the Eucharist and other practices (such as a modified Angus Dei, (i.e. “bread of life”) that made me feel uncomfortable there.
After mass, I headed over to St. Lawrence Martyr in Hanover (Jessup area) for the 11:30 am mass—which is actually closer to where I’m living. The priest who celebrated seemed orthodox and the liturgy appeared free of abuse.
If I had to choose between the two, I would definitely go back to St. Lawrence, but I was wondering if anyone local to the area or anyone who would know of any other parishes nearby. St. Lawrence was the smallest parish I have ever been—it looked like it could only seat about 50 persons (small chapel with only a center aisle and a few rows of pews).
I know the Mass is centered on Jesus in the Eucharist and not the fellowship or even the building, location, etc., but I’m a young college aged student; perhaps there is a more suitable traditional parish that I could attend mass weekly while I’m here?
I plan to go to St. Alphonsus for the TLM and check out the Baltimore Basilica downtown as well, although they are about a 20 minute drive.
Thanks,
Chris
