Hello all,
Almost a year ago now on Christmas Day, 2012, my wife and I delivered our beautiful son, Noah Flynn, who had passed away in the womb just a day before. We were in RCIA at the time in our local parish, studying to become Catholic. We were so excited to have our 2 year old son Henry and new baby baptized at the same time together, but sadly it did not turn out this way. My wife and I were both in non-denominational churches before wanting to join the Catholic faith and it felt as though all was falling into place.
We were completely shocked when our son suddenly died, when we thought we were having a healthy pregnancy. Noah was growth restricted, a phenomenon that rarely occurs in the third trimester, we were 38 weeks along.
To this day, I do not know why this happened. Did God not think we loved this child? Was there something we were being punished for, past sins perhaps? I know this all sounds crazy, but this is what a parent thinks of when their child dies.
Can anyone here explain to me why God allows such tragedy to occur? Also, is my child safe in Heaven? Finally, was there a reason for this that we cannot fully see?
Thank you for helping us heal, this has been a long, hard journey.
