I don’t understand how they do, really. If someone says the N word to a bunch of black people in a public place, those people can sue quite successfully for emotional stress/trauma caused. The WBC is causing obvious emotional stress and trauma and from what I can tell, that actually seems to be their purpose to an extent, and yet by contrast they get away with it easily.yes it does but they have the right to practice their speech in a public location.
so if they actually protested then nothing should actually happen to them only if they broke the law in someway, attacked someone, or trespassed on private property.
in the pro life movement you have to deal with this all the time becuase sidewalk councilors are seen the same as WBC by the pro choice crowd, and they do what ever they can to shut us up.

But the first amendment is not absolute either. The Supreme Court has said so. I would also imagine I can’t yell, “There’s a bomb” in any airport without legal repercussions.

Offensive yes, but causing deliberate pain and cruelty, no. Saying the truth about abortion can be quite offensive to some people but it isn’t cruelty.i guess my libertarian views are coming out a little bit.
I just think we should stick closer to the constitution, I don’t think someone should be denied their free speech if their protest could be offensive. Keep in mind if we say we can deny free speech becuase it is offensive then lots of pro life groups would get denied their free speech.
