Tue (Dec 8) Mass readings (Adam and Eve sin / consequences / Mary's perpetual virginity)

You had better care what God’s holy word has to say regarding Mary and you had better care gravely if your church doesn’t parallel what Scripture says. Blindly following will surely lead you astray.

To me it means that after Jesus was born her and Joseph did have intercourse and the first child means that she had other children after Jesus was born.
If not I believe it would have said, “but she remained a virgin ever after her son was born…”
and “She gave birth to her only child…”
But it doesn’t say that.

I totally agree with this because Scripture is quite clear on these and many other accounts that show quite clearly that Mary had a normal marriage with Joseph. There is nothing in Scripture to suggest otherwsie, period…

So then if Holy Mother church (in your own perception) does things in opposition to Scripture, we are not supposed to question it?? This in itself is in opposition to what the Scriptures say about such things.

Twisting and distorting is all you have here. The Catholic argument here is so weak and sketchy it’s embarrassing.

Justy90 I hpoe you didn’t mind me butting in on one of your converstations about the Greek translations of the word cousin/brother.
Yes I also believe that Mary and Joseph had a normal marriage and that they had other children. Scripture points to that direction.

this is why we need a Church… not all that god wants for us can be found in the Bible…

the Bible wasn’t even written or begun until at least 40 yrs after Christ’s Ascension… (NT, that is)…

what did they do before then?? they had the Church…

Jesus never told the Apostles, that we know of, to write books… He told them to preach and to baptize and to spread the Gospel, orally…

maybe you had better study Catholicism… the Catholic Church was/is the FIRSt and only Church established by Christ… Protestantism didn’t come on the scene until the 1500s…

you might want to study history also…

Jesus said He would build His Church and the gates of Hell would not prevail against it…

if the Church taught error… i think that qualifies as Hell prevailing…

Thanks for joining the conversation. This whole issue is nothing new. Catholics must try and prove this (which they cannot) so that all of the other pieces of the Marian dogma puzzle fit. Much of their claims hinge upon this premise. The problem with it is that the Bible never suggests that Mary didn’t have anything but a normal life and marraige.

You didn’t explain it. All you did was dance around the question by saying thats why we need the church. Once again can you explain.
 
That’s all they ever do is dance around the issue. The Early Church surely assembled the canon of Scripure, but they did not write it. Catholicism has this distorted beyond all recognition and loves to deceive others about the subject.

I also noticed that I got no responce about what Greek word was for cousin/brother. I have given several words and he didn’t respond. Could it be he don’t know.

Not sure what Bible you’re reading, but Matthew 2:25 does not exist. Neither in print or online.

The Bible I have says “firstborn” but I don’t think that makes much of a difference… The title firstborn can easily be considered a simple title. It doesn’t neccessarily mean she had other sons, but it was more of a legal description as shown in Deuteronomy 21:15-17, it outlines the entitlements of a firstborn son.
