Well, they are at it again. The Religion of Peace decided that terror and maybe some killing was the only way to keep the Pope out of their sad little country today. Goodness, that Religion of Peace and Love just keeps on giving…

This just keeps getting worse: Here is a recent statement off AsiaNews.

Turkish hijackers trying to stop papal visit
Hijacking marks a new stage in attempts to stop papal visit to Turkey. Turkish papers today report al-Qaeda’s death threats against any Muslim who dares meeting Benedict XVI.
Ankara (AsiaNews) – A Turkish airliner was hijacked and flown to Brindisi (Italy). The hijackers said they were non violent and simply wanted to give the Pope a message in an apparent protest against him. Turkish TV media reported that the two men took over the plane in protest against the Pontiff’s visit to Turkey in late November.
Benedict XVI, who was invited by the ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople and the Turkish goverment, is scheduled to travel to that country at a time of rising nationalist and fundamentalist tensions fuelled by groups opposed to the visit.
Sources in Turkey told AsiaNews that all Turkish papers have reprinted a message from al-Qaeda which threatens death against any Turkish Muslim who dares come close to the Pope or meet him.
In recent weeks a book was published with a very telling title: Attack against the Pope: Who Will Kill Benedict XVI in Istanbul? The publication comes at a time when threats and violent acts against Catholic priests and churches are becoming signs of tensions in a nation that is slowly moving away from an affected secularism towards a form of nationalism in which “Turkish” and “Muslim” become one and the same.
Turkish Islamic nationalists have described the papal visit and Turkey’s entry into the European Union as “treason against Islam”.
Yes, Turkish and Muslim become one in the same. The question is: Are terror and Islam becoming one and the same?

Earlier reports on Tuesday that the hijackers were protesting Pope Benedict XVI’s planned visit to Turkey were apparently incorrect; authorities now say that the hijackers have requested political asylum.
Turkish officials said one of the hijackers, identified as Hasan Ekinci, wrote a letter to the pope in August asking for help in avoiding service in the Turkish army.
“I am a Christian and don’t want to serve a Muslim army,” he wrote, adding that he had been attending church since 1998."

BRINDISI, Italy (CNN) – A hijacking episode that began over Greek airspace has ended in Italy with all 113 people aboard released and both unarmed Turkish hijackers in the custody of Italian aviation authorities, Italian officials said.

Turkish officials said one of the hijackers, identified as Hasan Ekinci, wrote a letter to the pope in August asking for help in avoiding service in the Turkish army.

“I am a Christian and don’t want to serve a Muslim army,” he wrote, adding that he had been attending church since 1998.**

The hijacking incident began Tuesday afternoon when the Turkish airliner departed Tirana, Albania, heading to Istanbul, Turkey. The hijackers entered the plane’s cockpit over Greek airspace, officials said.

The plane sent out an SOS signal and Greek defense ministry planes escorted the aircraft out of Greek airspace. Greek officials alerted their Italian counterparts, the airline spokesman said.

An Italian air force F-16 fighter jet then intercepted the Turkish Boeing 737, carrying 107 passengers and six crew, and forced it to land at a military airport in Brindisi, in the south of Italy, an air force official told Reuters.

An Albanian passenger said passengers had no idea there was anything wrong on the plane, that it was just like a normal flight.

Albanian member of parliament Sabri Abazi, spoke to ANSA news agency by telephone from the hijacked airline. “They haven’t heard us talking,” he said, according to Reuters.

Abazi said there was one hijacker in the cockpit and another in the cabin. "Up to now we have seen no weapons or use of violence."

“We understood a hijack was in place only when the plane suddenly changed direction,” he said.

The chairman of Turkish Airlines earlier confirmed the hijacking and said none of the passengers had been hurt.

“The passengers and crew are under no threat,” Candan Karlitekin told NTV television.

CNN’s Talia Kayali and Anthee Carassava contributed to this report.

Can someone tell me how you hijack a jet with no threat or use of violence?

“Hello Mr. pilot, I was wondering if you might mind altering the course of the flight just a little for me. If it is not too much trouble.”

You do realize that it’s two nutballs and not the entire religion right?

How would you feel if the next time a priest is caught with a child you have to read “priest caught with 8 year old, Christ’s true Church at it again”?

There’s a lot of nuts in the Muslims world because there’s a lot of poor people int he Muslim world with nowhere else to vent their anger. That’s really the bottom line.

Clearly with Jedi Mind tricks. We really should train those pilots to resist the force.

No, it seems to be their religion. Maybe most Muslims are not terrorist but most terrorist are Muslims. And everytime I read about a priest molesting a child the MSM do make a point of IDing the Catholic Church and make a big deal of how many others have done the samething. Theirs is the only religion that promotes violence.

Make no mistake about it, a Muslim’s first duty is to defend Muslims over non-muslims no matter what the situation!

Many of them will pay lip-service when questioned about it, and say “of course I’m against the terrorists” but when it comes time for action, you’d better believe they will be right there for their “Muslim brothers” in a heartbeat!
