I went to mass yesterday but went to confession just before the mass began. I was not sure what the priest would say when I responded to his question of “How long ago was my last confession?” When I said “approximately 30 years” he very kindly said, “Welcome back.”
I am so glad to have finally done that, I have been wanting to for a very long time. I was raised as a catholic but neither one of my parents EVER attended mass. Through my adult life I have visited other churches and denominations, all christian. Like many people, when I was old enough to ask questions about the catholic faith I did not understand or like some of the answers I was getting.
I still do not understand much of the dogma and beyond much of the negative things we hear and read about catholicism there is something “special” about attending a mass and receiving the holy sacrements.
I am very new here and not even sure who this “thread” is going to but I just wanted to let somrone know that I have gone to confession and feel really good about it.

Welcome back…what wonderful words to hear…You give me the courage to go to confession…it has been quite a while for an individual confession…Thank you so much for giving me strength and courage.

Hi 👋 You are home and you feel :bounce: :extrahappy: :dancing: after confession. I am so glad for you.
Keep in mind that the catholic church is full of humans and humans we are quite imperfect, but the mass is where Jesus makes Himself present. The mass is the highest level of prayer, because there we truly commune with the Lord our God. Keep your eyes on the Lord your God when you see humans :confused: , doing human things :eek: .
For me the church is like a mother, loving, but diciplinary at the same time. Raising the children of God is not an easy job, specially when out of His loving generosity, He gifted us with free will. Maybe you’ll like to read the life of Saint Augustine 👍

On www.ewtn.com they have an excellent Question and Answer site its under Faith, top left hand corner of the home page under Catholic Q. and A. Their site is very informative, as is this one. (that we are on now.) www.catholic.com they have a great search engine (also top left hand corner), just type in what you want to search and they have many topics for it and sources.Plus you can ask questions on here too, as you probably already know. The Vatican web site also: www.vatican.va

Of course you may already know all this but just thought I’d give you some good sources and information that you can use for years to come.There are many other great sites also, but this is just a few of my favorites.:clapping: (I’m so happy for you!!)

Frequent Confession is the best cure for sinfullness. The Grace gained really does help me avoid sin.
