TV: Glee

I’d been watching Glee since it first aired. I loved the music and dancing but each episode added more and more focus on the sex lives of the characters as if that is all there is in life. No one seems to be struggling with homework or chores, just sex.

Last night was about sex education. That was the straw the broke the camel’s back for me. I won’t watch the show anymore.:ouch:

Yes it is. The thing is, I’ve never seen anyone particularly discriminate against theatre and music geeks, but they ARE misfits.
Actors tend to be the type that no other social group wants, they’re the odd ones out.
They’re often either uncomfortable with themselves, or hate the way others view them.

Theatre is an outlet. They get up on stage, they be someone else, they shine.
I’m not quite sure how the glee club crowd generally is, but that’s how a lot of theatre kids are.

Many are very out going, have many friends, but most of their huge social circle are OTHER theatre and choir people. Despite all this, non theatre folks STILL consider them to be a little on the weird or eccentric side.

This is just my experience here, what I’ve found to be true.

Yo. Ed. Last I checked, the Catholic Church was A OK with evolution.

I work in the media. Catholics need to say NO more often and give their reasons why - politely. We need to speak up, not shut our mouths. I have dealt with Hollywood. Forget the hype. There are companies out there that do one thing for major Hollywood types like FOX. They monitor each and every comment made on the internet 24/7 and pass the results on to FOX. If no one complains, the suits can tell their superiors: “What’s the big deal? Nobody’s complaining.”

Speaking of Madonna. Some years back she did a commercial but the outcry that resulted meant the commercial got pulled.

I think you’re painting with a very broad brush. I can list dozens of victim groups looking for money and other support. That doesn’t mean they’re wrong.

When Sacred Scripture teaches us that the gates of Hell shall never prevail against the Catholic Church and there are “Victimist Catholic” groups trying to convince me otherwise, I’ve got a problem with that. An offensive TV show or song does not constitute “persecution.” The persecution faced by Catholics in the Middle East (Catholic Answers Live’s guest discussion on March 4) is, sadly, not nearly as sensational or buzz-worthy. Where are all the threads and outrage about that? :confused:

Oh yeah - obnoxious does not even come close. She was enough for me to never turn on the show, even out of curiosity, and I love shows about music.

Sue Sylvester is the ONLY reason why I watch the show. Jane Lynch is hysterical!!!

Believe it or not, I have never watched a single episode of Glee.

Know about about it, even listened to the music on youtube (which was great), but have no interest in watching it.
I knew it was not worth watching when I found out it was pushing the LBGT line in its shows. Plus (I found out) it was becoming more and more sexualized with every new season. :rolleyes:

I mostly stick to religious channels, HGTV and its various home repair/home buying shows, and some of the medical shows on OWN (formerly Discovery Health). Plus (of course) the news. And one show on MTV which I will not mention and which will remain my “closet guilty pleasure.”😃
P.S.-----It is NOT “Jersey Shore.” 😛

To be honest, I’ve also never liked Jane Lynch in other programs I’ve seen besides Glee.

I did enjoy the Sue sylvester character because she’s so obviously over the top. I did like the Grinch episode. It was refreshing when you would see her redeem herself and show a ‘kinder’ side.

But the way the show ridiculed kids who were trying to abstain and who were not ready to explore sex was the last straw. It implies that sex is the whole reason for living and that is so not true as we all know on the forum.

The writers mock Christianity when the principal tries to discipline the Glee Club by having them select their music from a list of songs with either “Jesus” or “balloons” in the title which they translate as punishment.

Similar to most teen shows today all the students can talk about is s*x. Male students discuss grinding, erupting, and how girl’s skirts are so short they can almost see their ovaries.

Students show disrespect to their teacher and guidance counselor by telling them to “get a room.”

This is only a few of the high points or should we say low points of one episode.

If you are outraged by this new series send Olive Garden, Chili’s (Brinker International), and InventHelp an email asking them to pull their support from “GLEE” and no longer sponsor this program through advertising. Your email will also be sent to FOX Network.**

Glee isn’t supposed to be a good “Christian” show. It depicts (quite accurately) the life of kids in highschool. There are faults, but it is based on reality. Kids do get bullied and kids do think about sex. It isn’t anything new.
 
Never in history has there been a medium like television to help corrupt the masses. This would never have been allowed on TV in the 1950s or 1960s.

Correct - TV was to support the community standards not erode them.
