I can’t help but feel like they set it up for failure by airing it on Sunday nights. I’ve been watching it solely on Hulu.

I’m not sure they use Friday nights for that. People just didn’t give it a single chance as all the repeats on Saturday night also beat the show easily.

Oh, I’m so disappointed to hear that it was pulled but was afraid it would happen. In its time slot I’d only been able to see a little of it and from what I saw, I thought it was the best thing on tv. I thought the writing was incredible and was looking forward to seeing more of it. Guess I’ll wait for the DVD’s now.
Amazon is accepting orders for $24.49. The release date is not set. edit to add Netflix listed it also.

I’m so glad to find this thread about my new favorite TV program – Kings!

I never realized that it’s supposedly following the story line of King Samuel in the Bible. It’s just such a good story in its own right.

I’ve been watching it from the beginning – the pilot episode – Goliath. Until a couple of weeks ago when the 4th episode – Insurrection – apparently wasn’t even shown on television even though it was a Saturday.

I just today watched the 4th episode – Insurrection –

from the NBC Website fior Kings.

I’d already caught purely by accident the second half of the 5th episode – Judgement Day – because I happened to be awake in the wee hours of the morning… 2 am… one weekday last week that they showed it on TV. I’m now going to go back to NBC.com to watch the entire 5th episode.

I really like Princess Michelle. She’s got her act together. But I still wonder what vow it was that she took that keeps her from being in a serious relationship with David.

I thought it was funny how in the 4th Episode - Insurrection – that one guard reacted to Thomasita. More than that, what the other guard said about that.

Have you noticed the Shakespearean sub-tones in the stories? Those guards seem to have somewhat of a Shakespearean “fool” role. What a kick!

I feel rather badly for Jack. And now… since seeing Episode #3 for the third time on the section of NBC’s website for Kings… I don’t much like Queen Rose. At least, not as much as I originally liked her.

I picked this up from a different discussion board.

**NBC moves 'Kings' to summer
Low-rated drama will return to schedule in June **

NBC's "Kings" is on the move again, this time to summer.

After originally scheduling the midseason drama on Thursday, launching it on Sunday and moving it to repeat-laden Saturday night after four low-rated episodes, the contemporary King David drama has been pulled off the schedule.

Starting this Saturday, NBC will air reruns of "Law & Order: SVU," freshman cop drama "Southland" and "Law & Order."

"Kings" will return to its Saturday 8 p.m. slot June 13 and will finish its run through July 25.

Have y’all seen the newspaper – UNN Reports – about the cases on Judgement Day?

For example, there’s an article on David meeting Princess Michelle.

An aside… the monarch’s mansion is named The Altar.

And their summer home is named The Vineyard.

RKG Facts (That would be the Royal Kingdom of Gilboa)

Shiloh has over 804 kilometers of subterranean railway.

Shiloh is home to three beaches and the nation’s largest national park.

Unity Tower claims the title of the tallest building in the world.

The official residence of the Royal Family is Altar Mansion in Shiloh. They have a summer home, the Vineyard, on the coast.

Over 300 people work at the Mansion, including domestic servants, chefs, footmen, cleaners, plumbers, gardeners, chauffeurs, electricians, and two people who wind all the clocks.

The Mansion has around 400 rooms, including 15 staterooms, 50 royal and guest bedrooms, 70 bathrooms, 85 offices, a cinema and a swimming pool. It also has its own post office and police station.
I'm just wondering why they need 20 more bathrooms than there are bedrooms.:eek:

With a little digging, I learned the premise for the 6th episode, titled Brotherhood, to air in June.

I won’t spoil even what the premise is for anybody.

Just go to this page.

If I could pay to subscribe to shows like this, in order to support them, I would. The current model based on Nielsen ratings and advertisers willing to fund the shows doesn’t really work out for a number of shows that I’ve enjoyed.

Paying to subscribe to watch shows: I guess that’s what HBO, Showtime, etc. are about, but I’ve never been interested in any of their shows except Stargate SG-1, but that wasn’t until long after it had moved to the Sci Fi channel.

Kings is the kind of show that I’d pay to see end its season with a dignified number of episodes. I like it. I think it’s a good story, I think it’s gripping, and I think it hasn’t yet failed to cast immorality in a negative light and goodness in a positive light. Maybe that’s why it isn’t taking off… 😦

What did you think of the latest episodes? Brotherhood and The Sabbath Queen?

Well, it violates the family friendly label that Kings previously carried…

It should probably make me feel like an idiot for supporting the show so vociferously before. Now I can’t support it any more wholeheartedly than I did Battlestar Galactica; there’s reservations now.

What did you think of the latest episodes? Brotherhood and The Sabbath Queen?
I didn’t mind Brotherhood, but Sabbath Queen bugged me with regard to the princess. It certainly seems to be running astray of the David/Saul story, but even in the original story there was infidelity and other mortal sins aplenty, so maybe this is just another twist on those.

I’m just saddened by the fact that the directors felt like they had to go with our society’s standards. What was wrong with David and Michelle waiting? We could do with some good, moral shows. Really I don’t watch too much anymore because there’s a lot of stuff that is more worth my time.

I really enjoyed it. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. Too bad it’s not getting picked up for a second season. They could have done a lot with the story. The finale was very powerful.

The DVD has arrived besides adding deleted scenes in 7 episodes the only special features are the series creator, directors and (King Silas) Ian McShane’s commentary on the first episode Goliath.
