My DD(22) and I both love this show. We weren’t able to watch two episodes ago together and we decided the new rule is that we have to watch the DVR’d version at the same time - you need to be able to discuss this show as you’re watching it!! We will be sad when the season finale happens. We both want to know what happens and how everything is resolved!

Is anyone keeping up with this show?

I had fallen behind but luckily one can watch the shows on ABC & Hulu.

I’m really enjoying it.

I know there are some people that have the same complaint they had against LOST - to thee I say boo hoo!! The mystery is part of the magic of these shows. You don’t get a 2000 page novel and then complain it’s not over in 200 pages, do you? Quit kicking the back seat and enjoy the ride!

Sunday’s episode - The Stable Boy - blew me away!

SPOILER ALERTS

First, the actress that played the young Snow - oh my word! Not only does she have the look but she had many of the mannerisms and everything. I wondered if they did some special CGI stuff but no. Great job Bailee Madison!!

August is an interesting character. I’m not sure yet of his role. He obviously changed the book in some way {it surprises me that Henry wouldn’t have realized that. Part of the ‘suspended disbelief’ I guess}. Changing the book seems sinister but then he seems to be helping Emma out.

Someone suggested he’s Rumple’s son, but I don’t know.

The whole shovel incident, finding the piece and then not finding the shovel later. Huge bummer. But then finding the bug was quite the game-changer.

And talking of game-changers, holy Katherine!! I didn’t see that coming! Although in the back of my head I wondered what happened to her body.

The young Regina - kudos to Lana Parrilla for pulling off the 19yr old young innocent look. {Sidenote: 19 yr old or 40 yr old, she’s gorgeous! :o }

But now we know at least her (misguided) motiviation for hating Snow {even though the reality is she should be hating her mother. But obviously the psychotic-ness is inherited}. Makes me wonder about a long-term ending. WIll she eventually be destroyed? Will she eventually be redeemed?

END SPOILER ALERT

And I’m stll not sure who August is.

Love, love this show!

SPOILER:

I had told my DD earlier in the episode that I didn’t think Katherine was dead. Did I add something huge when I remember her stalled at the town border and a car comes up behind her? I assumed or saw in that episode that the person was her love from Story Land - the golden knight whom James brought back to her?

I’ve heard several ideas on who August is - Pinocchio and Rumple’s son are two common theories. My favorite though, is that he is one of the Brothers Grimm which fits perfectly with him changing the story.

Love the show. The Mad Hatter is coming back for at least two more episodes!

After 2 episodes I will return the shaded text back to black since most viewers who are following this thread should be caught up by then.

Should you wish to post future SPOILERS, please block the text and select the yellow chiffon color for the text.

Thank you.

Thanks Angela!

SPOILER
I had read elsewhere someone’s suggestion that August was Pinochio. Some of their ‘evidence’ or thoughts, including some stretches:
-since he’s made of magic wood, Gepetto put him in the magic wood wardrobe that baby Emma was put in -OR- he was turned back into wood temporarily so he could go in the magic wood wardrobe - since it was stated only 1 could be in there
-he had ‘shin-splits’ {remember down by the river}
-he rides a motorcycle, he’s carefree and can go where he wants to go because he’s got “not strings attached”
END SPOILER

I got the impression from tv.com that this was the last episode of the season. But I watch them online so maybe I missed previews for the next one?

Either way, I know I’ll be rewatching them this summer to try and find all the little stuff I missed!!

I wasn’t really satisfied with the most recent episode, especially regarding the way they dealt with Regina’s motivations for hating Snow.

Specifically…

SPOILERS:

Really. Why would she blame Snow? It seems ridiculous.

Havard,
SPOILER
I think you could tell her mother wasn’t quite stable and it made me think that perhaps the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree?
END SPOILER

Good information Patrice - the way this past episode ended, it certainly could’ve been the season finale cliff-hanger! I’m glad there’s a couple more episodes to come.

Me too! But I got to admit I’m getting more than a little tired of Emma being so gulliable and just blindly trusting people because they say she can, such as the newspaper editor. Emma seemed more leary and cautious with trusting anybody in town in the beginning of the show, now she’s a bit transparent that people can use her blind trust to their advantage.

Yeah, her whole “I can tell whose lieing” thing seemed to be off. Now it definately is off if she couldn’t tell about Sydney.

But part of me thinks that maybe she’s blinded by her hatred towards Regina so that she’s willing to trust anyone who comes off as anti-Regina or trying to help her?

The thing that keeps bothering me is how Mary Margaret and David keep…

SPOILERS:

Coming up with silly excuses as to why they shouldn’t be together.

/SPOILERS

Sorry I’m so late to respond to the last episode about the Queen’s hatred for Snow. While I did expect Snow to have acted selfishly to build such resentment from the Queen, it’s not unrealistic for her to hold a grudge for the reason depicted. If we look around us, we’ll probably see people who are nurturing longstanding resentments for what amounts to ridiculous reasons. It’s simply a part of our fallen nature, exacerbated in this case by a mother who was off her power-hungry rocker herself.

What did everyone think about the last episode? Interesting. It was kind of funny how there seemed to be ‘clues’ about the identity of August and you even thought he WAS a particular character, right up until the end. Tricky, tricky!

SPOILER ALERT
Crazy about August’s leg. My wife and I went from thinking he was Pinochio to Baelfire and then back to Pinochio at the end. EXCEPT, someone pointed out how August said in the last episode that he doesn’t lie. Sounds like another clue pointing to Pinochio, but he lied to Mr. Gold when he said he was his son.

With that said. I don’t know if he ever said he was his son. Maybe he just let Mr. Gold believe it.
** END ALERT**

the OUAT fan page on Facebook had a lot of people wanting August to be Mr Gold’s Son and they were somewhat upsetwhen Mr Gold said “you’re not my son”. There were other subtle clues to August’s identity: like the donkey paperweight in his room.

(potential spoilers are above in white…read at own risk)

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE THIS SHOW? I can’t get my dad to watch it…but my mom does, if she remembers. Even my sister has gotten into it, I can’t wait for the Season 1 DVD Set in late August! I own the 5 episode disc that was an exclusive Target stores release for Valentine’s Day.

Your blog was great! It kind of reminded me of what G.K.Chesterson wrote about fairy tales. I’ve only watched the show while channel surfing, so I’ll be sure to give it a closer look. I don’t watch much TV, more of a reader. I do like Person of Interest, Fringe, and Hart of Dixie (have to, from there!).

God Bless!

jediliz, please connect the dots for me. How does the paperweight donkey help clue who August is? I’m sure I’m missing something obvious

Think back to a certain animated film made by Walt Disney around the year 1940. There is a scene in that movie where the title character turns into a Donkey.

Thanks jediliz!! Good catch.

I googled and found a wikipedia article on the movie. It then refreshed my memory. We had a book form of that movie when I was a wee lad.

On a funny side note, I first glanced at your reference and thought Shrek? And wracked my brain for about a minute before I stopped and actually read your complete reference. :o
