Tv pornography question?

flipping through channels i got to one that was apparently showing porn late at night, i didnt stop, i quickly changed the channel…but, the image has still been burned in my head and keep thinking that in some way that i’ve sinned mortally by watching this…

thanks for any help

It depends. Did you lust after it? Do you try to kick the image out of your head when it appears?

If you answer Yes to number 1 and No to number 2, yes you mortally sinned. If the answers are reversed you should be ok, though you could still have sinned venially.

I would still Confess this, however. No harm there! 👍
 
i definitely dont feel like i lusted…but i was shocked that we even had that channel, so i did check back again to see the “info” that comes up before the actual images show up on the tv, but still changed the channel before the images came up again. i know i didnt lust but…

Assuming I didn’t miss anything here, you didn’t sin. It’s clear that you encountered something that could have led you into sin, but you immediately avoided it.

You were unaware of the channel. Now that you know about it, you may want to consider using content control or having the channel removed in its entirety.
 
No sin committed in my view. The sad truth about pornography is that it is so shocking that it is hard to wipe out of your mind. I compare it to seeing a horrible accident and then reliving it over and over, even though the images are truly unwanted. Pornography is the scourge of the modern age on the internet and yes, now even comes into your living room sometimes completely by accident. Definitely, contact your cable or satellite company and see about getting this channel blocked. I would even go so far as to write a letter of dissatisfaction with their even carrying this obscene trash and ask them to stop offering it at all.

Remember censorship to insure decency? Where did that go???
 
Try to realize also that liking what you saw does not mean you lusted after it. Lusting after the image means keeping it in your head purposely or going back the the channel showing it.
