TV programs about ghosts

I never understood that sage business (I’ve seen it on regular tv programs and films, it just seems crazy.) As far as the programs, there was one that had a “girl ghost” crying for her mother (the problem with that though the ghost did a possession to make it known) and a a demon both in the same house.

The saging is Native American spirituality. They believe the smell repels the ghosts or something? I don’t honestly fully understand I just know it’s their spirituality not mine.

My understanding is it’s equivalent to our holy water (in what it does).

What gets me is how these people are doing battle with the most evil demons and not one of them says a single prayer.
