TV that causes emotions

Sometimes during scenes on TV shows or movies, it brings about emotions like anger if I were put in that position. Would this type of anger be considered a sin under the 5th commandment or does sinful anger need to be something in real life?

Anger because someone is forcing you to watch Cheers?

Anger because you are watching a holocaust film and the Nazi’s actions make you angry?

My Priest says anger itself is not a sin. And there can be ‘just’ anger. Remember Jesus in the Temple.

The way anger becomes sin is in what you do with it.
Hurt someone physically, emotionally, financially, etc

We have no control over our emotions, they are involuntary reactions. For something to be sinful you have to will to do it.

OTOH, we do have control over what we do with our emotions, so if we let our anger give us permission to throw something at the TV (or shoot at it) that could be sinful.

If I find myself getting angry at the tv news I talk back. But sometimes just leave the room if I feel I’m getting too upset. Actually it’s pretty funny as they can’t hear you or if they could they wouldn’t care. Find myself reading more now.

Well, all television causes indifference. Sometimes, those emotions are boredom and indifference. I think it depends. If I am watching like Live PD (which my mother loves) and I see a 13 month old child die, I would say that anger is completely justified. Remember, not all anger is wrong.
