I can’t say that I agree. I thought this season has been incredibly funny so far–funnier that last season. I laughed so hard that I was practically crying last night when Michael drove into that lake.

As for Jim and Pam dating, I think it’s great. I hope the writers find ways to do interesting things with the relationship without resorting to petty conflicts or the cliched break-up followed by them getting back together again.

Me too. I thought last night’s episode was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in years. I was sitting in my family room alone laughing out loud for some time!
 
I haven’t noticed any vulgarity at all :confused:

Last night was great with the car in the lake, but my favorite bits were the ‘country now known as the former Yugoslavia’ and Dwight’s earnest offer of ‘cauliflower and noodles. with a baked potato on the side’. I couldn’t stop laughing at that.

I’m really glad with the subtle way they’re handling Jim and Pam. The only time I disliked this show was when it got all moony and shippy there for a bit. I like Jim and Pam, and like them together, but I don’t want the show to be all about them.

Does anyone know if Kelly’s pregnant in real life? She looks fantastic, but rounder and softer than before. And for them to make it a plot point…I was sad she confessed (though hilarious that she saw nothing wrong with the lie) - I was looking forward to a season long faked pregnancy, with pillows and everything.

One show I do like that’s vulgar at times is 30 Rock. I don’t like Alec Baldwin as a person (from everything I’ve read), but his delivery and acting on that show are spot on. ‘Are you stronger than a dog’ had me laughing uncontrollably. If you’re watching Office and not 30 Rock, give it a try. I used to like My Name is Earl, but it’s waaaay too vulgar and in your face now. DH still likes it though, so I usually wind up watching it, but not laughing very much.
 
To my fellow Catholics:

This is a vulgar show. There are sexual references that I can’t properly refer to here. But here is one scene description:

“The camera tilts down to reveal a mistletoe attached to Todd’s belt, hanging near his crotch.”

Wasn’t there a recent episode, possibly a rerun from last season, where Michael felt his girlfriend’s breasts? —KCT
 
I tried to watch the show, but I never “got” it. It doesn’t work for me.
 
Count me in as a fan! I’m really enjoying the new season.

Todd is a repulsive character. The things he does offend both the audience and the show’s other characters. His sexual immorality is obvious and unattractive. He may even be a parody of those horrible 70’s and 80’s over-sexed, good ol’ boy, macho types.

In many ways “The Office” holds a mirror up to modern society, showing us how pathetic, apathetic, heroic, ambitious, sad, mistaken, and(more than anything else) funny we can be as humans interacting in confined spaces. Nothing immoral is glorified, vulgarity is indeed vulgar, and while we may empathize with certain characters, we would never trade places with them.

What I really object to are the commercials.
 
This is why Catholics should avoid it. It trivializes and throws immorality into the “What’s the big deal?” category.

For Catholics, we are to turn away from sin and not delight in the sin of others, including actors portraying as much.

I love this show! Yes, there are times where it can be vulgar, but there is definitely MUCH worse out there. I’m not justifying it, but…overall, I totally dig this show.

I don’t think it has jumped the shark, b/c seriously, all I have to say is, “Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race for the Cure.” I can’t even type that without laughing out loud! And, I go into total girl squeal and giggles over Jim and Pam! I think the writers will keep it good with those two, especially b/c we haven’t seen the last of Karen.

And, Kevin cracks me up so much! And, Phylis’s wedding last year?! So funny, and of course, probably the best one of all time, The Injury - I mean, he grilled his foot on the George Foreman grill and Dwight with a concussion?! So funny!!! 👍

Oh! And last week after Kelly gave Ryan the news, then it went to her looking right into the camera, shaking her head, “No…” Oh, my gosh…I could go on all day! :rotfl:
 
I think The Office is one of the funniest tv shows ever. I did not watch season 1 or 2 so renting them on week ends to catch up.
Fall off your bar stool laughing funny!
 
I became a huge fan of the original series while watching it on BBCAmerica. I thought it was a mistake to try to make an American version. Was I ever wrong. It’s the funniest show on TV.
