Anyone going to tune in to this?

It’s funny because my buddy’s into the series and got me to read it as well, but while he was watching t.v. there was a commercial for it and he wasn’t paying attention and his girlfriend who didn’t read the series brought it to his attention saying - didn’t you read that stuff?

From what I read online, it looks like it’ll be based on the 2nd book - The Elfstones of Shannara

Here’s a trailer I found.

I’ll be watching - if we get that channel. Otherwise I might have to download it.

Not a fan of the series so probably not. It’s on MTV so that’s a strike against it.

I’d meant to read those books back in high school but never got around to it. I liked the covers, and had been working my way through the fantasy/adventure fiction section, but never actually got to those. I might pick them up at some point, but I’m currently working my way through HP Lovecraft.

I should really reread the series starting with The Sword of Shannara.

Could be cool. It’s kinda weird that it’s on MTV and not SyFy. :ehh:

Since it has started, has anyone tuned in?

I don’t get MTV so ended up watching them online. Or at least the opener (which is episodes 1 & 2 if I’m not mistaken).

So far I don’t think they are overly faithful to the book. I could do without the blood and gore.

Just wondering what others thought.

John Rhys-Davies said in the Lord of the Rings special features that he’ll never play a dwarf again. Looks like he’s crossed over to the other species.

I don’t think I will watch them… I’ve watched LOTR and the Narnia movies, and, while some of them are entertaining, I always feel like the image of the characters in my imagination gets replaced with the actors. I always feel a little poorer for that.
