Have you watched the V tv series if so what do you think?

If creatures from another planet showed up, would they have souls and do we need to preach the gospel to them?

I like V (both versions).

Actually, I like most space-based sci-fi because of its endless possibilities.

As to whether or not an extraterrestrial race would be in need of the Gospel, I don’t know. I’m sure that if extraterrestrials ever did arrive, they would definitely be more technologically advanced that we are (after all, our closest stellar neighbor is just over 4 light years away, so they’d probably need some technology to allow them to travel FTL). Whether they are good (i.e., Vulcans, Centauri) or bad (i.e., Visitors, Romulans) or unknown (i.e., Minbari, who because of a mistake on our part during a first-contact situation, almost wiped out the human race in the B5 Universe) will determine a lot of how we respond to them.

I’ve seen the first season of the new series.

I did wonder what the position is of the priest character who takes up arms. I understand the story’s reasons why he did this, but I think that they missed a trick in not exploring a little more what might go through the mind of a priest who finds himself needing to make that sort of stand.

In the real world, of course, it’s a moot point, since aliens are hardly likely to come hovering over our cities. But it’s a fun question, albeit not especially important!

I’m going to guess that yes, they have souls and may need to have the gospel preached to them. But maybe they will answer, “We know. He came to our world, too, and died for our sins.”

Didn’t this question come up in the 16th century with regard to native Americans? Seems I read somewhere that the Pope had to issue a statement to the effect that, yes, of course they have souls. Course, that was pretty obvious.

Another thought: what if they’re allergic to water (for baptism)? Or “bread” or “wine”? We already know there’s no exemption for humans who are allegic to wheat…

I love anything Sci-Fi .

I just watched a marathon on V from 1983. I couldn’t believe it… in that show the girl who gets pregnant by a V and others, are telling a Priest she is going to have an abortion and the Priest is telling them its murder and God has a plan for us all. Maybe this child is to be a peacemaker…
A character on the show says “this issue has been debated forever… its not murder”

My jaw dropped.

Yes, they would have souls because they would be rational animals. They would not need the Gospel preached to them, because they would not have been descended from Adam.

I like most science fiction movies and this one is pretty much towards the top of my list?

If they are in human form and God created them, which I believe he would have because he is the creator of everything, then yes they would have a soul.

Do we need to preach the gospel to them? I don’t know. Maybe they understand the gospel better then we do and can preach to us about it. The only way to be sure is to see if it happens, to see if they show up. Then we’ll know for sure.

The ambo has red paraments and the other priest was vested only in alb and a gold stole. I was having a hard time figuring out what time of the year it was.

I just rewatched that on Netflix and it actually seemed to have been placed there in a ham-handed fashion, right down to Marc Singer delivering the “It’s her body…it’s her choice” line.

Yeah, when I first saw the priests, I came to the conclusion both were visitors. The younger one playing his part so he can go deep cover in the resistence or fifth column.
I expect him to betray the resistence people. We’ll see.

I know I could do with less sex between supergirl and the gentic offspring — it would be funny if he ever learns what he had been locking lips with.

It would be interresting if the Visitors win out in the end of this series.

Kinda like the “To Serve Man” in outer limits years ago truned out to be a cook book. lol

I’m not a big sci-fi fan, but I do like V.
