Hi All,

At the RCIA class I attend at St Gabriel’s in Port Orchard WA, our class leader shared some thoughts and excerpts from a book our pastor challenged them to read last year for Lent…"Rediscover Jesus" by Matthew Kelly. It really hit home for me and thought I’d share.

The section we discussed summed up…What are we asking our Lord to for. Are we asking him to tweek this part of my life, or that part, or a tweek a friend, or tweek a family member.
—Are we asking for just a slight change in our lives…To Scared or Uncertain…about losing all control. Lord…just tweek this.

—Or are we ALL IN and asking God to COMPLETELY TRANSFORM US to his will.

This really got our group thinking on our personal prayer requests and that we have all been asking for the Lord to fix a specific sinful nature about ourselves…but not just giving it ALL. Why aren’t we asking or “allowing” God to fix it all…to Transform us COMPLETELY.
It definitely stirred our group up a bit especially as we are learning this Lenten season is great and perfect time to turn to God, repent and be transformed.

Here is the prayer from the book that was shared with us…Let’s Go All In…

Loving Father,
Here I am
I trust that you have an incredible plan for me.
Transform me. Transform my life.
Everything is on the table.
Take what you want to take and give what you want to give.
Transform me into the person you created me to be,
so I can live the life you envision for me.
I hold nothing back;
I am 100 percent available.
How can I help?
Amen!

Yes, Matthew Kelly is a great author and speaker. I have had the pleasure of reading his books Rediscover Catholicism, Rediscover Jesus, and Resisting Happiness. It is key for us to be completely transformed in Christ, because as Kelly said in one of his books, “God meets us where we are, but He loves too much for us to stay that way.”

May God bless you in your RCIA journey! 🙂

I second this! I’ve been doing this Lenten program, and it has been great! It is based on Kelly’s latest book, Resisting Happiness, that I mentioned above!

Thanks for telling us about these great books. God bless you all.

Wow! Thanks Irishmom
I just visited the site and watch just two days of the reflections. So insightful and inspiring and amazingly practical.
