Twenty years of sobriety - unbelieveable!

Thanks to the grace of God and a good, solid 12 Step program, I celebrated twenty years of continuous sobriety on May 4, 2012.

I am so grateful for all the prayers and good wishes and the incredible support of my Dominican family!!!

Are you a member of the Rosary Confraternity? I believe that this confraternity has carried me through my darkest hours. :)… Days when I could not say even one decade, but just held my rosary and said an “Our Father” and a “Hail Mary”.

What a blessing! God is great and all things are possible through Him if we only trust in Him who is the giver of all.

Its awesome to see others clean and sober. My anniversary date is may 24 1994. Its only thru the grace of God that has brought me thru this. The off shoot of this aweful addiction is when i stopped i became depressed, had panic and anxiety attacks. But one day a pastor laid his hands on me and asked do I want the Lord to take it from me and I said yes and bam its gone! The better thing than AA is a faith based AA program Bill and his partner were devout christians.
 
“Admitted that a power greater than myself could restore me to sanity” Sounds like God has been working miracles in your life. Your are indeed blessed!!

Thank you, everyone! I believe that the 12 steps brought me back to God and then, being a Baptized and Confirmed Catholic the graces of those Sacraments brought me home to Holy Mother Church… Now I get to be a lay Dominican (my promise is to be made July of this year), a Catechist (certified! Yup, that’s me…I am CERTIFIED) and a humble daughter of Holy Mother Church.

I am grateful to the MAX!!! Now, if the Niners would just win another Superbowl…and Cal was to get into (and win) a Rosebowl…well, let’s not push it…I am grateful for sobriety…one day at a time…👍
 
Congratulations!!! That is awesome!!! That is beautiful, how you were brought back to God, and all these other good things in your life, this way.

Congratulations and thanks be to God!

Do you mind me asking how you went from the point of thinking you didn’t need help to wanting to change and seeking help? A close family member is currently absing drink and possibly drugs, but they don’t think they have a problem at all. I understand rehab treatment is only successful if the person wants to change but this lad doesn’t. Any advice on how to get him from point A to point B? He is hurting everyone around him.
 
Congratulations! That is outstanding. While praising God, make sure to take a little bit of credit for yourself. You had to make the choices to get here. 👍

I pray all the time that a friend of mine will one day find the courage and humility to seek help for his drinking. Right now, it’s looking grim for him.
