A SAD AND TRUE STORY
Girl A and Girl B never liked each other. Girl B had a pretty hard time with her family, and to deal with this, she had a pseudonym which meant a lot to her, which was her sole outlet of self-expression and sometimes her sole amusement, and in which she invested much of her character…Simply put, it was the only thing that made her feel good about herself. Girl A, on the other hand, had a happy life with a lot of friends and family. Now, A got pregnant at 15. While pregnant, she came across some anti abortion stuff composed by B. B would not willingly have allowed her to come across this, but she was now so attached to her nickname that she had become careless. Now, the reason B was writing anti abortion stuff, was of course nothing to do with abortion, which at 14 she didn’t understand, but more to do with making her feel good about herself, and make her feel that she was loved by her own parents. A, however, took it for granted she was actually concerning herself with family values, and when she had a baby girl, of course she named her after B’s nickname.
Now, remember I said that these two girls never liked each other. That’s not even the word for it; they were different people with different values and different ways of thinking, on different pages of different books, and it’s more accurate to say that they despised each other; simply they didn’t get on at all; if they had to be anywhere near each other for any length of time, someone was bound to get hurt. A brought out all B’s worst qualities, made her feel terrible about herself, and tended to send her into either a passionate rage or a blubbering wreck. B would almost worship A for the social thrill she provided, but at the same time, she was insanely jealous and absolutely abhorred her…
Anyway, so now, here was A with a baby, who she loved very much, and who had stolen B’s deeply personal nickname. So there was B-left empty without her nickname, with no means to express herself. Of course, all A saw was that B had been pro-life and was hoping she’d come and support her. But poor B now became jealous of the baby and obsessed with A entirely. When A did try to befriend her, she could only be rude and aggressive, and all A saw then was that she wasn’t being supportive, and so took to excluding her even more.
B then went around for over a year; feeling bad and guilty and unable to figure out where she’d gone wrong. As for A, she is happy with the baby, who again she loves, and to be quite honest, couldn’t care less about her. All she sees is that B wasn’t mature enough to support her, which is what she expected, very far from understanding how it was with B’s nickname. So now poor B has to live with knowing her identity has been stolen, and this baby is more loved than she was and will probably have a better childhood than she had. B has adapted a stronger personality, got herself a nice new pseudonym, found herself a genuine friend, learned to find a lot more positive things in her life, and learned a lot from the experience. Sometimes she still feels bad about it, especially when she thinks of that baby. But she is almost entirely over it now.
What are your thoughts on the story? Please pray for both of them, and if you ask me, especially for B, for A’s is just a classic story of teenage pregnancy, and although I am by no means dismissing her, she will never understand how she made B suffer. >.<
