In the bible, it says:
“it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Heb. 9:27)

I personally think it is a bit too weak (At least in it’s English translation) to state that there are two judgments.

Does it have a more literal translation from the Greek? Is there another verse which supports this?
 
That doctrine of two judgments does not hang upon one verse, there are others as well, as well as ancient Tradition. The Catechism cross-references some passages on the Particular Judgment (593 Cf. Lk 16:22; 23:43; Mt 16:26; 2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1:23; Heb 9:27; 12:23).
