On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday I understand it’s 2 half meals and one full meal. What about in between meals. Health permitting does the fast include no light snacking between meals? I am eating as little as possible with no eating in between but just curious.

During Lent and Advent are the Rosary mysteries different on certain days?

Thanks

During Holy week I pray the Joyful on Monday and Tuesday, Luminous on Wednesday and Maundy Thursday, Sorrowful on good Friday and holy Saturday and Glorious on Easter Sunday.

I’ve never understood one large and two small meals; who has three large meals normally in a day?

Only if you choose to pray different mysteries. There are many customs regarding which mysteries to pray on any given day, but there are no laws/regulations. You are free to pray any set of mysteries you wish.

One rosary book I have suggests that the sorrowful mysteries be prayed everyday during lent. I don’t think I’ll be taking that on.

You simply just need to eat less than half what you normally would at those two “small meals”.

If all you normally have for lunch is a sandwich and a bit of dessert, have half a sandwich and no dessert. If breakfast is normally two eggs sunny side up, a side of bacon and two slices of toast, have one egg and one slice of toast and no bacon. You’ll have consumed less than half the calories you normally would have in those two meals.

Can we eat meat?
No.

And as you are an Eastern Rite Catholic, you should talk to your pastor about the regulations. They are different than those for us Latin Catholics. I believe you have more days of fast and abstinence and some of those days include abstaining from dairy, eggs, wine, and oil.

It’s one regular meal and two meals smaller than your regular meal, whatever that is for you.

My husband is a farmer, and trust me— he eats three LARGE meals because he works a lot of manual labor.

Me. I eat a large breakfast, lunch and supper every day seven days a week unless dieting.
