Two Masses on Holy Thursday

Our parish has scheduled two Masses of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. Both of them are in the same church, at 4 pm and at 7 pm. I’m curious to know how that is going to work with the transfer or the eucharist and such. I always thought that the rubrics prohibited such a practice. (Our parish has 8 churches, 3 that we use, another 3 have been closed, another is going to be torn down, and 1 that is just used in the summer.) The eucharist is reposed in a side chapel. Good Friday’s schedule is the same.

I don’t see what the big deal is, my Parish (second biggest in the Diocese) had two Christmas Eve Mass’ at the same time, one in the church, other in the multi-purpose room and will do the same thing for both regularly scheduled services on Easter morning.
 
Perhaps the pastor got a dispensation out of pastoral necessity, i.e. the fact that he anticipates loads of people being there for Holy Thursday and would like to be able to accommodate them, or that he would like to accommodate work schedules for a good portion of the parish or some other such reason. You should try asking your pastor.

I think it could be done. Just reserve the Eucharist after the first Mass and strip the altar. Then re-dress the altar for the second Mass, consecrate new hosts, then strip it again after and remove any remaining Eucharist to the place it is reserved.
 
If I can get out of my class on that day, then I’m going to attempt going to 7 Masses that day. I read about it on Wikipedia. Apparently it’s a practice that originated in Rome because people would go to the 7 really important Churches (forget what you call them). One of them is St. John Lateran, one is St. Paul outside the walls, one of them is St. Peter’s, etc.

I don’t think the traditional practice was to go to 7 Masses. The one I know of is to visit 7 Churches during the period after the Blessed Sacrament has been moved to the altar of repose.

We have the same practice, we are a very large bilingual parish and thus we have two masses in two languages.

Oh Ok, thank you. So, I should probably go to Mass for one, then stick around for the adoration there. Then catch Adoration in 6 other Churches? I’m really hoping to do this devotion/ pilgramage. And see what it’s all about. I already enjoy visiting Churches that I don’t normally get to go to.
 
The Missal says only ONE Mass for the Lord’s Supper should be said not including the Chrism Mass.

You are limited to receive the Eucharist only twice in a 24 hour period.
