It’s better to just go ahead and use the terms for ease of communication so that we can get at the truth rather than encumbering the discussion by using terminology that constantly points out the obvious (I’m not a Catholic) and runs the risk of being offensive. We’re all smart enough here to know that if a non-Catholic or a non-Christian uses these words that he’s not fully endorisng them."

That’s not entirely helpful for me, as I am catholic–the evangelical catholic kind, just not of the Roman or Eastern kind.

I’ve decided to use “the Roman Catholic Church” (when speaking of the Latin rite) or “the Roman and Eastern Catholic Churches” (when speaking of the whole shebang) or simply catholic (if not necessary to distinguish between the evangelicals, romans, and eastern orthodox).

BTW, “papist” seems simply and concisely descriptive to me, but whatever.

Mozart, now I’m wondering whether you’re nearer Sheldon Springs or Bethel. . .

Ah yes…Sheldon Springs it is…two miles or so from my house. I just saw the sign and verified that it did say St. Anthony’s RC Church left. Very small church it seems to me. Most of the Catholics that I know go to one of the two larger ones in the big city of St. Albans.🙂

Passionate Red Sox fan here.🙂

Not bad…though that last one 'll get ya yelled at by some folks.
