But let’s not be naive… the NRA gets all sorts of benefits from the politicians in their pockets
Please report exactly how much the NRA has donated to line the “pockets” of politicians.

Really, look this number up.

I am serious.

(Hint, the number is embarrassingly small for those who claim the NRA “buys” politicians.)

The NRA is a an advocacy organization. It works primarily by informing its members about gun issues. Those member then respond however they may. Many members, acting on their own, will petition their representatives about gun legislation. Many members, acting on their own, will donate money to the campaigns of pro-gun legislators.

When people call the NRA evil, they are calling participatory democracy evil.

(Here is a link if anyone would like to know how much the NRA itself - not members acting individually - contributes. Again, it is a shockingly small amount, given everyone saying that they “own” Congress. The True Source of the N.R.A.’s Clout: Mobilization, Not Donations - The New York Times)

Outside affiliated groups and associations paint a different picture, but the organization itself only donates about 25% of what Planned Parenthood does.

This is very interesting given that PP is a for profit business and therefore benefits directly in terms of revenues whereas the NRA is a loose affiliation of gun owners with no direct monetary gain except the right to bear arms.

To be entirely fair, though, some NRA members may be retailers and benefit indirectly.

What is also interesting is that the opensecrets.org website – the source of the data below – felt the need to editorialize concerning the NRA but no such impulse regarding the direct financial benefits that accrue to PP. What gives?

Respectfully correct and not being naive, it is not just the NRA who get all sorts of massive benefits$$ from politicians$$ in their pockets on a>>>along with every other massive array of fronts, do they not? Goes both ways $$ for self interests?
Can list a whole long massive array of them, not just the NRA eiheir, is it?Peace 🙂

I almost hope that, somehow because it would most certainly be unconstitutional(yeah I know, just saying), the Federal Gov’t. made the NRA illegal or disallowed it to contribute to politicians.

Then personal contributions to politicians would skyrocket along with a phone call of “Don’t take our guns.” Dwarfing anything the NRA did, in fact we would probably start manufacturing commercially available full autos again.

And the Democrats/liberals would gawk at what they did. Right now they have a little bad guy they can blame their problems on. It is best for their sake they leave it at that and not try to ‘accomplish’ anything.
