first, my 11-year-old son recently developed a stomach condition that causes him to be in pain 24/7. the doctor says it may be “irritable bowel syndrome.” drugs aren’t helping thus far. i’m starting to fear that the pain will be with him for a long time, perhaps even years. it is greatly diminishing his ability to enjoy life. before this, he was the happiest kid in the world. now, he seems sad all the time. it really upsets me. please pray for his healing, for him not to lose his ability to enjoy his life, and for us all to have an increase of faith.

second, i am contemplating a career change. this is one of the most difficult, and potentially risky, decisions i have ever made. please pray that I will accurately discern God’s will for my life, that I will not act hastily, and that I will only have good motivations.

Thank you.

I will certainly pray for both of your intentions. :signofcross:

I do have one thing I would suggest. Irritable bowel syndrome is generally the catch all for when doctors don’t know what’s wrong in the bowels of a person. I suggest you get second opinions until you get a straight answer. Usually a doctor doesn’t know what the specific cause is when they tell you that. If you do get a second/3rd/4th+ opinion, I wouldn’t tell the doctor what the first doctor diagnosed your son with…because it can influence his decision. 🙂 Just a tip.

Dear Lord, I remember the intense pain I endured before my celiac disease was diagnosed.
Please heal this young boy of his pain with the right diagnosis and treatment.

And Lord, may You will be filfulled in the lives of each of this family

great advice. thank you.

Lord, I pray for Captainmike’s family and especially for his son who is in such great pain. Please help him get the proper diagnosis and treatment so he can be completely healed, and enjoy his life more fully. While he does suffer from his bowel pain, please help him to unite his sufferings with your Son’s on the cross and to offer it up for his soul and for all souls. If his parents could encourage him to do this, he and his family will have found some meaning in all of his pain and will naturally grow spiritually. Help this family get through this difficult time with strength, patience, and prayer. Help them find a good doctor to help heal this child who is in such great need of healing.

Bless Captainmike with the grace to discern your will for him and help him not to act too hastily or with any motivations that are less than good. May his guardian angel enilghten, guard, rule and guide him in all that he does, and may he model his life totally on you and St. Joseph of the holy family. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.
