First, for my friend who is pregnant with her 2nd. She has a uterine bleed which is preventing the attachment of the placenta, so she’s on strict bed rest to try to stop the bleeding and prevent a miscarriage.

Secondly, my husband and I could use prayers. I am 35 weeks pregnant and my husband has not yet been able to come to terms with the fact that we’re parents. He is deeply depressed and has fallen away from the church. I’ve offered up every pain and discomfort of this pregnancy for my husband to find peace and accept this baby, but unless he undergoes some miraculous change when he finally meets the baby, it’s not looking good.

Praying for both of these intentions with their news of the blessings of children.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

May our mouths praise you, O Lord. May our souls and our lives give you praise.
It is by your gift that we have life:
may the whole act of living be our gift to you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm; and may he lead us to eternal life.
AMEN

Praying your friend, your husband, yourself, and the two babies! :signofcross:

PATER NOSTER, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

AVE MARIA, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

GLORIA PATRI, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Nolipajoli, it’s been quite well demonstrated that men bond just as much with newborns as mothers do. It’s the hunter-gatherer protect-the-brood thing kicking in. He’s probably just daunted by the prospect that’s all, but that will go away when he’s faced with a beautiful baby of his that he can hold in his arms.

Prayers of course for your the safe delivery of your child and for your husband as well as for your friend and her baby.

I have to admit that I didn’t bond with my son until
I went back to the Church. It hurt my wife but she
suck with me and now my son is a totally a Daddies’ Boy.
I will pray!

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women and
blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Your husband may be feeling burdened and worried about providing for the baby and you. Men really do worry about these things and most of them don’t say a word about it to us. Reassure him that all will be well and little ones don’t need much. Chances are when the baby arrives and he starts to settle in, the fears will fade and the love will move him toward God and family. I will pray for you.
