Two Questions seeking Answers

First of all, if for some reason when receiving the Body of Christ it should be dropped by the parishioner it falls off the tongue, what do you do? I know reverence is given to the Precious Blood if it is spilt by converting it with the purification cloth.

Secondly, if one wanted to read all of the many devotions recognized by the Church, what book or literature would one read? I know a few and I would like to learn more!

As an Extraordinary Minister I would pick up and consume the host as quickly as possible. Probably not the most hygienic solution but one in which I would not hesitate to initiate.

As to the other question I have the following book and it is a very good introduction to many devotions of the Catholic Church:

As an Extraordinary Minister I would pick up and consume the host as quickly as possible. Probably not the most hygienic solution but one in which I would not hesitate to initiate.

An Extraordinary Minister would not necessarily do anything. They would alert the priest, who, as the Eucharistic Minister, would take care of it. Most times, they take it to the Sacristy and dissolve it in a glass of water, before pouring it in to the Sacrarium.
This would have been covered in your Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion training session, I would think.

“If you drop the Consecrated Host, our calm demeanor at this moment can calm and assure an anxious and embarrassed communicant. Pick up the Host and consume it yourself. If you feel uncomfortable consuming it, hold it in the palm of your hand until after Communion is complete and take it directly to the sacristy. Place the Consecrated host in the measuring cup on top of the small refrigerator and fill the cup with water. After the Host has dissolved in the water dispose of both on the lawn.”

Shouldn’t it be kept in the tabernacle until it dissolves, instead of on top of a refrigerator?

Personally I’ve never seen it happen but suspect it doesn’t take long so it never unattended and taken care of immediately.
