TX Planned Parenthood kicked Out Of Medicaid Program...what is the alternative?

I find your posts puzzling. Obviously stopping free money to PP had no impact on your ability to locate a Pro-life OBGYN.

And as I pointed out, it won’t even reduce the number of Pro-choice OBGYNs, it just reduces their number of offices and perhaps what car they can drive.
My insurance covers OBGYN, my friend was dependent on PP…a non-profit org…really helped low income people…what’s the alternative for low income people? Something that also is focused on proactively helping women (providing additional information) and not just meet the needs would be great too…most OBGYN I have seen are just meet the needs.

Sadly, it may take time for good options to fill-in the holes left when a PP shuts down in a remote area (which isn’t Dallas). Not much time, but the fact is when we find ourselves embracing evil for so long, all we are left with is options we may not like as much. Evil is generally quick and easy, but never painless.

If certain members of Congress and the White House weren’t so morally bankrupt, they’d be funnelling PP funding into alternatives for low-income women like nobody’s business. But since their priority is abortion and their many campaign donors and NOT actually helping women, we are where we are.

Well, yes, however I think it is more expensive to go to an OB/GYN than a GYN/women’s clinic…PP is an organization that is way cheaper. Why else would anyone go to Planned Parenthood instead of an OB/GYN? There needs to be an alternative to people who depended on PP. Is there not?

For non-Dallas are The Neighborhood Christian Clinic is the only comparable resource I have found.
Just search for ‘Dallas County Free Clinic’, if you want subsidized care.
One link showed 20 clinics.

The local HHS offers free STD testing, even has a mobile van.

Thank you, there map show less and no more than the link that I already posted and no women’s clinics in the Dallas, TX area. Still not an alternative.
You haven’t explained why a clinic can’t also serve men or children in addition to a woman’s OBGYN needs? Outside of PP, free clinics serve a wider range of community needs, not just birth control.

Your exclusion seems predetermine to get a negative response.

Or maybe you just did not read carefully. Please see post #8. It’s called a specialty. If I were wanting to get my teeth worked on I would go to a specialty clinic that only works on teeth. Children girls with that problem would see a specialty called a Pediatric Dr. Or do you also give parents a hard time for wanting their children to see a Pediatric office who only serves children?

It’s completely understandable to see want to see a woman for gynaecology, but I doubt only female gynaecologists work at Planned Parenthood, and if a FQHC serves gynaecological needs, a person can probably ask if there is a female gynaecologist and if not, perhaps they can recommend another FQHC that has one.

I appreciate your wanting to help. I would like to ask that you may please stick to the topic of women’s clinic. If you want to know why some women prefer specialty Drs please start your own thread.

I did not say the gyn had to be female…although many women do prefer a woman OBGYN and should have that choice.

I didn’t read it properly. The following website allows you to search for a FQHC in Texas and service. Under ‘Dallas within 5 miles providing Women’s health/Gynecological care’, three places came up:

tachc.org/find_healthcare_center#tabs-address

At least two don’t seem to solely serve these needs, not sure about the third, but they all appear to serve the above needs.

That’s illogical. Most if not all hospitals and clinics are staffed to cover a broad range of specialties. Only the rich jet off to Mayo clinic for an ‘ultra specialist’

As I pointed out to you, PP had a unique business plan, they narrow their scope because of their focus on abortion. All other subsidized clinics that treat the poor for reproduction issues do not exclude men or women keeping their baby. The Nurse Practitioner at PP is not superior to the one at another free clinic.

If you keep insisting there must be equal free clinic that only services women who don’t want to keep their baby, it’s a strawman argument not based in the real world.

The pediatric urgent care clinics and pediatricians are all fine examples of specialties. There are also pregnancy centers and clinics. If you look under your insurance woman’s care is a specialty. I have not said anything about arguing equal free clinic … you made that up…that is what defines a star man argument. If you want to create a thread about equality clinics please do so in another thread. This thread is about a specialty clinic. I am sorry that you do not understand that. Again, if you want to make an issue of why women prefer specialties then create a different thread of your own as it does not address my question.

So what is your request, why aren’t most free clinics able to replace the PP clinics?
The other free clinics have staff that specialize in STD testing, PAP smears, gynecological exams, and prescribing BC.

Yet you have not provided one who has specifically specialty Dr’s. The staff may be qualified but not specialized. And ER Dr could deliver a baby but that does not make him an OBGYN. A general Dr could treat a new born but people prefer a specialist called a pediatrician. There are also Dr’s who specialize in male anatomy and problems…if you needed someone to perform a procedure involving a scalpel and your body would you want a specialist who has lots of experience in that area or a general Dr who does not? A more serious example is treatment after rape. If it is all the same to you then you should start a different thread to find out why other people prefer a specialist.

You reject all these clinics because you assume they don’t have equivalent expertise on staff.
Only PP will meet your requirements

You seem to be fond of the ‘no true Scotsman fallacy’.

Perhaps you assume that all these clinics have specialty physician on hand yet you provided not even one.

PP does not meet my requirements. There are other women clinics such as Christian neighbors but not in the Dallas area. Seems you may want to consider a different perspective.

God bless!

Wow, you are making the No True Scotsman fallacy argument.
You’re not actually helping a friend, are you?

You’ve never shared exactly what sub specialty she requires, but we gave you loads of clinics that could be investigated.

Instead you insist non of them have met your undefined standards. A real friend would have looked at their websites or called them up, not ask a forum to do it for you.

Aren’t you aware that except for abortions, most of the services at PP are delivered by a regular old Nurse/PA?

Actually she told you she needed an OB/GYN specialist.

I think she was trying to find a clinic with an OB/GYN specialist on staff.

Do any of the alternative clinics have OB/GYN specialists on staff?

While it is true that a nurse/midwife can provide basic gynecological care, she may need the specialist for something else. She does not need to justify or disclose the reason for her need to us.

At PP, the nurse or PA would schedule you to see the OBGYN if their exam discovered a problem. Why would a free clinic operate any differently? A free clinic also treats women for reproductive health exams, birth control, PLUS prenatal care.

Based on the limited information provided, I feel it’s a ‘no true scotsmann’ argument that is geared towards justifying the need to continue funding PP.

If she only wants to help her friend, she has the links and can call to verify whether any of the clinics can provide the appropriate expertise for the unspecified issue.

I did not read any words in her posts about trying to justify PP’s existence. Unless she actually comes out saying that this is her intention, I would give her the benefit of the doubt.

Why judge her intentions based on a limited number of posts?
