Greetings Catholic brethren and sistren,

Could anyone please tell me how the order of mass goes? I was wondering, from the time you come in, to the time you leave, what happens. Like I’ve said before, I’ve only been to one, and it was a Christmas Eve mass.

Obviously I could just go to one and see for myself, but I have no idea these abuses everyone talks about…this guy stood in front of the altar, and the altar gals wear tennish shoes, and someone drank the wine/blood that wasn’t supposed to and that priest left something out of something.

I’d like to know what’s SUPPOSED to go in a traditional Roman Catholic Church when everything is done correctly - Latin rite, I suppose (like I really know the difference). :o

Or…if there’s some other thread that already says this, please point me to it.

Thanks people. I look forward to reading thy repsonses. 👋

Try this link from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Biships:

usccb.org/liturgy/current/revmissalisromanien.htm

It is the General Instruction for the Roman Missal (commonly called the GIRM on these boards).

If you read through it, you will learn how the mass is supposed to be celebrated. Many of the “abuses” that get raised on these boards relate to practices that are not prescribed in the GIRM.

I hope this helps with your questions.

Blessings.
