Hey

Remember this:
Book of revelation
chapter 11. 19 And opened was the sanctuary of God in the heaven, and there was seen the ark of His covenant in His sanctuary, and there did come lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and great hail.

it continues in chapter 12
“1 And a great sign was seen in the heaven, a woman arrayed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars,
2 and being with child she doth cry out, travailing and pained to bring forth.
3 And there was seen another sign in the heaven, and, lo, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his head seven diadems,
4 and his tail doth draw the third of the stars of the heaven, and he did cast them to the earth; and the dragon did stand before the woman who is about to bring forth, that when she may bring forth, her child he may devour;
5 and she brought forth a male child, who is about to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, and caught away was her child unto God and His throne,” etc (it is good to read the chapter until it ends)

In original texts there weren’t any chapters so these chapters should be read together.

Christ calls Mary woman in Gospel of John chapter two and in 19:26 like Adam called Eve “woman”.

If you read old testament you see how important The ark was for God, Faith and Jews. How important part must Blessed Mary have for our faith and devotion.

I used Young’s literal bible because it was the first one I found from internet so please tell me if it is not good translation. And sorry for my english.

Excellent post toivo! and welcome to CAF!

Everyone, great scripture posts so far, but don’t forget the steady and constant witness of the early Christians in this belief!

Peace,
Phil

Some people don’t like typology or consider it overdone. The entire NT in a sense is showing how the OT was a type or foreshadowing of the coming of Christ. (See Beale and Carson, “Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament” for an exhaustive modern view.) I find the idea that Mary was an Ark fascinating. However, I don’t recall such a reference in the Bible itself. Perhaps it’s there.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, [and] not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Typology is just one way of describing the way that God slowly revealed His truth and salvation to us.

I was wondering if anyone knows about a really good book on Typology. I have heard that there are 465 different TYPES, in regards to Jesus. Does anyone know?

crucifiedrabbi.com/ by Dr. Taylor Marshall is organized in a type sort of way…

each chapter is: The jewish ____, the Catholic ____.

Haven’t read it yet, it’s on my to do list.

Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm. A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. (Revelation 11:19,12:1-2)
