The University of Notre Dame is one of the first Catholic colleges (maybe even the first and only so far) to respond to Pope Benedict’s Motu Proprio regarding the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite Mass.

Campus Minstry has been very eager to provide the Tridentine Mass for students each Sunday of the academic year. See campus ministry website below.

Campus Ministry has also provided a three-day discussion of the Holy Eucharist and the differences between the ordinary and extraordinary forms of the Mass

Also, Campus Ministry is providing students with a very nice “first timers” guide to the Tridentine Mass. See below…

The Right to Life Club did a great job promoting life during respect life week 2007:

The administration has developed an official office within the university staffed by a devout Holy Cross Priest who will seek out Catholic scholars for professorship at Notre Dame. New “Catholic-only” professorships are being developed by gifts from the Keough family.

…and with Professor Father Richard P. McBrien away from the university this year, all is looking up at Our Lady’s University!!!

…The V-Monologues were not allowed on campus last year. Hopefully, this is a permanent dismissal.

…Catholicism is strong and powerful at Notre Dame…let’s hope it only grows stronger and never weaker!!!

God Bless Our Lady’s University.

Hurray!! No matter how ND has strayed, it is truly delightful to see it make a move in the right direction.👍

Elzee,
He is on Sabbatical this year. I would assume that he is coming back. I think he is very near to retirement though, so who knows maybe he won’t. I don’t think he’s as bad as many make him out to be, simply because he has very little influence at the university. He is no longer the chair of the Theo Department. The chair is Prof Cavandini who is VERY much in line with Rome. And, McBrien’s not a Holy Cross Priest, so he has no influence on the students’ spiritual lives (doesn’t say Mass on campus etc…)

Anyway, I’ve heard that he stays in line with Rome while in the classroom, but that he toes the line with the media. Oh well, I guess if he was really bad, Rome would have silenced him by now.

Gonzaga University in Spokane will soon have the TLM.

One of the catholic clubs on campus is working with the University Ministry to get it set up. Hopefully we will see them soon.

I don’t know much about him, other than when I’ve heard him on tv during a documentary or a news show (I can’t remember) talking about how Jesus could have had brothers. That was my first exposure to him…he said several other things I can’t remember but it was one of the first times I ever yelled at my tv.

I never understood people who did that until that moment. It was actually very therapeutic.

Glad to hear that Gonzaga is adhearing to Pope Benedict and fullfilling their students’ liturgical needs. I’m not a big Tridentine guy myself. I think it’s nice every now and then. Nonetheless, I think it’s very critical to have Mass in the extraordinary form available on a Catholic college campus for those students who are attracted to that specific type of the Roman Rite.

Maybe if it gets even more faithful, Our Lady of Victory will start interceding for the football team again 😛

St. Vincent’s in Latrobe PA is offering a daily TLM low mass. Seven days a week in the Crypt (a nice place don’t go by the name LOL). They send out an e-mail weekly for those of us that have asked to be informed of the schedule. stvincentlatinmass@gmail.com
