This may be true!! Even Obama and those in his cabinet said AZ SB1040 was racist and legalized racial profiling, but then admitted they didn’t read the law!!

People willingly believe statements that coincide with their inclinations. If they already think that people who vociferously oppose illegal immigration are racists they find it easy to accept those allegations from others without researching them first. The opposition to the Arizona law has little to do with it being racist and a lot to do with it being effective.

"…Related to this is the familiar passage about treatment of “the least of these my brothers” — the hungry, the naked, the stranger, the prisoner. The passage in Matthew 25:31-46 plainly concerns the eternal reward or punishment of individuals. The judgment here is based on individual acts of kindness, as private persons. It becomes highly problematic to ascribe the specific mercy ministries this passage cites to bodies politic.

Acting on issues through ‘bodies politic’ is an individual act, reaching more than one can actually do on an individual basis. I don’t see a difference in supporting a legislation to help a majority in need, and supporting an individual in need.

Each of us has to do what he thinks is best whether in individual or collective ways. The point here, however, is that if you think the Dream Act is a good idea and I think it is a bad one, there is no moral distinction between your decision to support it and mine to oppose it. We are equally justified in acting as we think best even when we arrive at opposite positions. The reason we take our action may be moral or immoral but the action (support or opposition) is neither.
