A group calling itself America’s largest Muslim organization is fighting back against Islamophobia and extremism with a campaign containing 11 principles it says represent “true Islam.”
True Islam and the Extremists, a campaign launched by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community this week, aims to correct some of the most common misconceptions about the religion and educate Muslims, non-Muslims and Americans of other faiths about the correct meaning of Islam.

The only problem being that the “extremists”, in their opinion, are practicing “true Islam”.

Ask any Sunni or Shia muslim and the will tell you Ahmadi’s are NOT muslims.

This movement who consider themselves as Ahmadi Muslim was created in the 1800’s.

Unfortunately, many Muslims do not consider the Ahmadiyya to be true Muslims. A campaign from them on “True Islam” would be kind of like a campaign on “True Christianity” from the Mormon church. It would lack credibility with even many average Muslims.
Approximately 2–5 million Ahmadis live in Pakistan, which has the largest population of Ahmadis in the world.[112] It is the only state to have officially declared the Ahmadis to be non-Muslims as they do not consider Muhammad to be the final prophet;[101] and their freedom of religion has been curtailed by a series of ordinances, acts and constitutional amendments.

I read the Koran once. I was expecting it to be an Arab version of the Bible, with stories of the creation of the universe, genealogies, poetry, songs, stories of heroes of the faith. You know, like the Bible. It was not like the Bible. It seemed like a series of speeches, or rants. All I clearly remember is the edicts to cut off people’s hands, and cut off their heads and pour boiling water down their throats. I’d say the terrorists are truly Islamic. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has a tough row to hoe if they want to change people’s minds about Islam.

Your memory of what is in the Qur’an is a little one-sided.

How about these verses:

1: 28. How can you refuse to acknowledge God, seeing that you were lifeless and He gave you life, and that He will cause to die and then will bring you again to life, then to Him you shall return.

1:62: Surely they who believe, and those who are Jews and Christians and Sabaeans – all who believe in God and the Last Day, and do righteous deeds shall have their reward with their Lord; and no fear shall be on them, neither shall they grieve.

1:136: Say: ‘We believe in God, and what was revealed to us, in what was revealed to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, in what was revealed to Moses and Jesus, in what was revealed to the prophets by their Lord. We make no distinction between them: And to Him we surrender.’

Also, the verse about boiling water is a description of hell, not what Muslims are supposed to do to anyone:

6:70: “For them is drink of boiling water and a painful doom, because they disbelieved.”

It sounds kind of gruesome, but hardly more so than the Bible:

Revelation 21:8: “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The violence and repetitious “You must believe! You must!” is what struck me. I can’t recall any compelling stories like Samson, etc. When you read something, some things you take with you, and the rest you don’t. :twocents:

There was a group of Muslims here from Pakistan that was named ‘Plantan’, and different ones would come on to defend their own position of being humane. They had different styles of writing, expression, as well as use of English.

I liked one particularly, and believe they were part of this Muslim branch.
