Last Thursday I was at a restaurant with my Dad and grandparents. All of the sudden, my Grandfather pointed to the window. In the sky was, well, a UFO (i.e, an unidentified flying object – so that doesn’t mean it was ET’s corvette.). I was very amused but not scared. It seemed to “fly off” at an angle towards the clouds. My Dad tried to convince me that it was just a balloon. However, most balloons are transparent. The object was solid black. My Grandma told me it was a hellicopter, but it looked to spherical. Now, it was sunset, and the window we were looking out of was tinted at the top. We didn’t have the best view. I don’t know what it was.
I’ve asked many questions about UFOs and aliens here on CA before mainly because I’m concerned with their compatibility with Christianity. I’d rather not believe in them. In fact, if people were to ask me my wost fear, I’d probably say aliens
(I used to be afraid of the movie Mars Attacks
). But I’ve seen too many things about them on TV. Some may think it’s silly to believe in ETs and UFOs, but I think it’s silly to ignore all of the evidence. Even the History Channel is usually fair at reporting UFO sightings.
My Question: If ET’s are visiting us and flying around out skies and doing who knows what (sight seeing?), why don’t you think Divine Revelation has anything to say about them? That is, why didn’t Jesus say anything about them? The Bible and Church Tradition teaches us that humans are central to God’s plan; we’re made in his image and have an immortal soul. If Extraterrestrials existed but didn’t interfere with us – if we didn’t even know they existed – I can see why it would not be necessary. But apparently that’s not the case.
