UK edition of the Liturgy of the Hours by Harper-Collins vs. Catholic Book Pub.?

Hello all you liturgical experts? I will get to the point: I am really turned off by the Catholic Book Pub. edition of “Christian Prayer.” I have been informed of a British version entitled “Daily Prayer.” Now, I have heard that the UK edition is more suited for people like myself that are, frankly, sick of the ICEL edition by CBP. I have gone to Harper Collins website and read the product description but I gives no indication to the contents.

My Questions:

1. Is the “Daily Prayer” edition by Harper-Collins comparable to “Christian Prayer” by CBP? (i.e. 4 week Psalter, Proper of Seasons, Offices for Doctors, Pastors, etc.)
2. Is it true that, apart from the Grail Pslams, the propers are translated with greater fidelity to the Latin? I didn’t say perfectly translated but more faithful?

Any suggestions or info. about the Harper-Collins contents would be greatly appreciated!

I live in the UK and I have Daily Prayer. I cannot make a comparison with Christian Prayer because I have never seen that publication.

Daily Prayer contains the whole of the Divine Office (aka Liturgy of the Hours) with the exception of the Office of Readings. It even has that for some holy days. It does contain the 4-week Psalter, the Night Prayer Psalter, the Proper of Seasons, and the Commons.

I cannot comment on whether it is a better translation of the Latin.

In general,it is a better translation except for the intercessions at Lauds and Vespers where they went off on their own tangent. It’s less seen for weekday and sanctoral intercessions but very evident for the Sunday ones, particularly those of Ordinary Time.
