Well, the average person, not just Baptists, has all kinds of misconceptions about what others believe, and that creates many unnecessary issues. We’re all guilty of that, all around.

I dunno—I’m not a Baptist myself, but I’d say Baptists such as Graham and Colson are not in the minority, but the majority these days. Of course, some of the adamantly anti-Catholic Baptists bark rather loudly, and that probably makes them seem a bigger presence than they really are.
Fare enough ! I guess I am frustrated with certain groups going into these countries and Proselytizing , but we are to blame for not teaching our own members well enough to defend our own faith

may God bless you and your openness.

Remember there are Catholics in each of those Countries who are also dying as maryters along side the Orthodox and each side is supporting and praying for each other. The Pope and all Catholic Churches in in Canada have been praying for both Catholic, Orthodox and Protestants there. I have personally represented my Church at a Coptic Orthodox special service in support of them during the conflict in Egypt. I think you should reflect on you comment.
Yes. That’s why I wrote “the Churches” of the Middle East, not only “the Orthodox Churches”. I think the horror of the bombing of Siadat al-Najat in Baghdad and the Camilia Shehata debacle in Egypt shows that our enemies do not understand or care about the different churches in these countries. My point was that all Christians in the Middle East face oppression violence, but we do not unite there, as we will not unite anywhere. Persecution does not mean that doctrine does not or should not matter. If we die, we will die as Orthodox, just as you will die as Catholics, and Protestants will die as Protestants.

This mislabeled video (these are not Syrian Christians; these are Coptic Christians…you can tell by the accent if you understand Arabic) explains it quite well, and it’s not something for anyone to argue over. Just keep praying.

Would that include Eastern Orthodox which have issues with the Coptic Church and are not untied. By the way both claim to be the only true Church. The Catholic Church makes this claim and each protestant Church claims that their interpretation of the bible is the right one. I am more optimistic ,God can do anything, and thank God none of us officially speaks for our Bishops who are working out our issues and are getting closer to unity then centuries before.
The two Orthodox churches are very very close. There have been joint statements agreed by both churches that their faiths are exactly the same:
"We had four meetings. During these meetings, we produced
three christological statements and one pastoral statement.
Of course, the process is continuing. We face some
difficulties. Nevertheless, at the same time we realize that the
substance of our faith is the same - we are not different in
terms of the very essence of our doctrine of faith - but we are
different in formulation and expression of our faith.
-Patriarch Aram of Armenia
It is actually not uncommon for Oriental Orthodox faithful to commune with us under full knowledge of both Bishops. An Eastern Orthodox seminary in the Northeast (St. Vladimir’s or St. Tikhon’s, I don’t remember which) allows Armenian students to commune, because the Bishop ruled that our faith is the same.

Thanks for the clairification. Jesus did pray that we may be one. What Jesus prays for will be granted by his Father.
I still believe and hope for unity , Only God can get us there. He can and will make it happen . And yes Doctrine is important .

My God Bless you Brother

Let’s just hope you don’t see them in their churches because they would probably be thinking they are idolators with all the great icons in there.

Much of the “prostelytizing” lately seems to be coming form Washington neo-cons and the “mainstream” US media pushing for either a new cold war or a hot war with Russia. Why are people so hot for war?
At this point, proselytizing by fundamentalists dwarfs in comparison.
