biandblessed,
what a beautiful sentiment it is to
miss God. i believe God misses you and wants you to be in right relationship with Him. your desire to seek clarity seems to be a great grace from Him.
articulated magnificently in Pope JPII’s Theology of the Body homilies, the Church repeats this teaching: the meaning of human sexuality is to mirror the Blessed Trinity-- the total, self-giving love between God the Father and God the Son-- a love that is so Powerful the Holy Spirit is eternally and infinitely generated between them. Like the Trinity, the profoundly dignified meaning of human sexuality is to be so powerfully self-giving, a new life can be generated.
This type of gererative (procreative) love can only happen between a man and a woman. Additionally, the man and woman must not do anything intentionally to thwart the procreative aspect of their union, else it diminishes the sex act, making it ***less than ***what God intended.
to
really love others in their divine beauty would mean to desire for others to achieve this sublime dignity in their human sexual love.
having explained that, let’s explore if the Church is as discriminatory as you had imagined. In the following passages the Church upholds its condemnation of any intentionally unprocreative sexual act, while reiterating its respect for the God-given human dignity of every individual. Pay special attention to how the Church loves the sinner, yet hates the sin:
from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
then this
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
and this:
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
instead of a discrimination against the homosexual person, the Church issues a distinctly dignified call to a holy relationship with God and a loving and chaste relationship with others.
