Here is an email that all Catholics should read:

UN COMMITTEE ATTACKS CATHOLIC CHURCH
TELLS CHURCH TO CHANGE TEACHING ON ABORTION
TELLS CHURCH TO LET KIDS HAVE SEX
February 5, 2014

Dear Friend,

I am hopping mad.

Today a UN committee directed the Catholic Church to let children have sex and also to change Church teaching on contraception.

The Committee also directed the Church to change its teaching on abortion and to let kids have abortions.

The Committee also told the Church that its comments on homosexuality has caused violence against homosexuals.

This alarming and even disgusting report was issued today by an out of control UN committee after grilling the Church for eight hours last month.

This is not the only recent attack on the Church at the UN. The awful baby-killing group “Catholics” for Choice has relaunched their global campaign to kick the Vatican out of the UN General Assembly. They want to reduce the Church to no more than an NGO (non-governmental organization).

I am also told that a delegate from Norway regularly complains in UN meetings that the Holy See has a seat at the table.

These attacks have to stop. We must act.

You often ask me what you can do. Well, here is what you can and must do right now.

We have launched a global Campaign in Defense of the Holy See at the UN.

I urge you to go to www.defendtheholysee.com right now and sign the Declaration in Support of the Holy See.

You can sign as an individual and if you run an organization, you can sign as an organization.

We aim to get hundreds of thousands of names and present them to the UN and also to the Holy See in New York, Geneva and Rome.

This will be an enormous effort but desperately needed.

If you are Catholic, sign! If you are Evangelical, sign! If you are Jewish, sign. Muslim, sign!

The Church represents all people of good will at the UN. If the Church was not there, abortion would now be a human right in UN documents. The family would be redefined. Religious freedom would come under further attack.

Now is the time to come to the aid of the Catholic Church.

I ask you to go to www.defendtheholysee.com and sign the Declaration and I ask you to send this letter to all of your family and friends. I ask you to begin campaigns to get as many people to sign this as possible.

We can do something big if we all work together.

Go now. Do it now.

Yours sincerely,

Austin Ruse

I’ve always been skeptical of the UN. To think that peace will come from “discussions” between the ambassadors of the depraved nations of the world is naive at best.

I’ll pray for this:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespassed against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee,
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.

Amen.

Benedicat Deus,
Latinitas

How can I make more people see this post? It is important that more people support this cause.

I think the Church should do what everyone else does to the UN: ignore them, and continue to do what the UN says they shouldn’t but with more intensity.

The UN has NO power to do anything. The only time anything important ever gets done at the UN is when the US ponies up and sends in the troops. I don’t think we’ll see the 1st Armored Division rolling on the Vatican anytime soon…

Nonsense.

As a man from a country with a long tradition of Peacekeeping, I cannot possibly protest enough against this ridiculous fable.

America has to stop pretending like only Americans die in wars. Idiotic rhetoric like this will result in your allies withdrawing their own troop support and letting Americans do the dying all by themselves, and paying for the whole affair to boot.

Further, there are innumerable conflicts and hotspots that are kept from exploding by the continued and regular presence of UN peacekeepers, which, if abandoned by the UN, would have to be substituted by actual US commitments and in that event your country would be far, far closer to bankruptcy and the loss of your nation’s hegemony.

Moreover, the Church has supported the mission, spirit and mandate of the UN since day one and she continuues to do so this very day. The vast majority of foundational UN documents are supportive of Church teaching and bear independent witness to the truth, goodness and validity of the Gospel.

Here’s a homily from airmaria

The priest talks about how Kinsey influences a lot of the current politics of this day.

Kinsey is cited often as an authority by many seculars, even though he was guilty of abominations.

Excerpt :
Canon 6747 the Code of Canon Law states that the church to which Christ the Lord has entrusted the deposit of faith so that with the assistance of the Holy Spirit it might protect the revealed the truth reverently examine it more closely in proclaiming and expounded faithfully has the duty and innate RIGHT independent over any human power
whatsoever to preach the gospel to all peoples also using the means of social communication proper to it
the church has the duty and INNATE right independent over any human power
whatsoever to preach the gospel to all people’s and no one can take that right

Nowhere have I read or heard that the UN report urged the Catholic Church to allow children to have sex. I am open to correction but this is the first time I have heard that.

I’m no fan of the UN but I think it is important to tell the truth.

The OP said it bluntly, but it’s implicit in the report. Did you read it? It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard.

Per NCR ncregister.com/daily-news/when-rights-become-wrongs/
But there is far more than that. The report requests that the Holy See amend canon law, which in Canon 1398 calls for excommunication for those who procure abortion. It also charges that Church teachings on homosexual behavior “contribute to the social stigmatization of and violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adolescents and children raised by same-sex couples.”
The report does not acknowledge the physical and emotional harm homosexual activity imposes on those who engage in this behavior.
In protecting what the committee members** believe to be the rights of the child, they advise parents to allow their children to indulge in sexual relations apart from marriage**, use contraception and have free access to abortion. By failing to endorse these sexual liberties, the report accuses, the family is in violation of human rights.
The report is actually telling parents that they do not have the duty to raise their children properly.
Would you act so surprised about how the secular state behaves? there has been a movement to lower the age of consent within our own nation, and abroad, and there has been ongoing legislation in Western countries to instruct 5 to 6 year Kindergardeners about sex, and expose the young more and more to the topic to destroy their innocence earlier and earlier.
**

"Lower age of consent law to thirteen? Why stop there? **

2007 Here’s Candidate Obama affirming the agenda of PP
Sex Ed to Kindergardeners, ‘Right Thing to Do’ Obama to Planned Parenthood

2013, Obama as president continues with this agenda as president
"Obamacare funnels 75 million to push sex on kids"
lifenews.com/2013/03/27/obamacare-funnels-75-million-to-planned-parenthood-to-push-sex-on-kids/

One thinks ,* 'oh the UN is referring to allowing the oldest of kids to indulge themselves. don’t be sensationalist! ’ *

One can scoff about the UN having no power. But the heads of state do. It’s really a will of the State still acknowledging the adversarial position of the Church. A Church they are not supposed to recognize as having any power over themselves anymore, yet they demand the Catholic Church change its laws as a moral authority…

Again the Popes have taught that the State has NO RIGHT TO USURP the role that parents have over their children. But the UN committee, seems to vocalize the will of many states that have been continuing to seek to do just that.

The video homily I posted earlier, also explains things, there is no need to imply the OP is misrepresenting the UN report , when it’s placed in its overall context.

youtube.com/watch?v=321qupae5m4

Again Kinsey influences this overreaching policy in the UN within this billion dollar demonic industry of PP, as much as Margaret Sanger influence it,

Hence we see things like this in 2011 by the United States

**“Infants and Children are sexual beings” **
lifesitenews.com/news/white-house-website-infants-and-children-are-sexual-beings
Borrowing Planned Parenthood’s talking points almost verbatim, the Obama administration is now encouraging parents to begin thinking about their children, **and even babies, as “sexual beings” who should be allowed to sexually stimulate themselves from infancy.
“Children are human beings and therefore sexual beings,” says a Q&A about sex directly linked to by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “It’s hard for parents to acknowledge this, just as it’s hard for kids to think of their parents as sexually active. But even infants have curiosity about their own bodies, which is healthy and normal.**”
The priest talking about the UN in the above video is connected with these handful of links, as PP , and leaders interested in globalization of 'American Values ’ all have a seat at the table of the UN.

The report everyone is up in arms about is the Concluding Remarks of the 65th session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

I have read it the portion specific to the Holy See. It is located at tbinternet.ohchr.org/Treaties/CRC/Shared%20Documents/VAT/CRC_C_VAT_CO_2_16302_E.pdf.

The Holy See’s response is at en.radiovaticana.va/news/2014/02/07/fr_lombardi_sj:note_on_childrens_rights_committee_findings/en1-771101

I’ll let people make up their own minds but my comments are as follows:

The UNCRC is enigmatic. Their promotion of contraception and abortion is unfortunate but they have done much good work in getting nations to pass and enforce tough laws against child-pornography and the child sex-traffic trade. They have done much good work and the Holy See’s response acknowledges that.

The concluding remarks do address adolescent access to contraception and abortion. One can certainly certainly argue that such a policy increases the likelihood of adolescent sex, but we have to be honest - the report in no way discusses the age of consent. It certainly does not “direct the Catholic Church to allow children to have sex.”

Those are my comments. The documents are there for everyone to read.

I have contacted Austin Ruse, the originator of this email. He has given me the link to this report:

tbinternet.ohchr.org/Treaties/CRC/Shared%20Documents/VAT/CRC_C_VAT_CO_2_16302_E.pdf

He tells me that the part about “Kids having sex” is in Page 13. IV F 57 a (calling for an end to “taboos” related to adolescent sexuality. )

He says that the “sex taboos” are related to adolescents being allowed to have sex.

What nonsense this whole this thread is. Considering the same paragraph talks about the dangers of early pregnancy, and that the same section talks about responsible sexual behaviour, it is easy to see that this is simply scaremongering. Instead of paying attention to some dubious email chain that it is not supported by the Church, I suggest it would be more productive for you (and others) to read the Holy See’s response - which is available on the UN website - and which focusses accurately on the key issues rather than dubious interpretation!

That is the Concluding Remarks document to which I have already supplied a link and which I have read at least twice. The section you reference says exactly;

***The Committee recommends that the Holy See;

(a) Assess the serious implications of its position on adolescents’ enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and overcome all the barriers and taboos surrounding adolescent sexuality that hinder their access to sexual and reproductive
information, including on family planning and contraceptives, the dangers of early
pregnancy, the prevention of HIV/AIDS and the prevention and treatment of sexually
transmitted diseases. (STDs);***

That has nothing to do with lowering the age of consent. It talks about access to information and education as well as access to contraception but it does not “direct the Catholic Church to allow children to have sex” as Mr. Ruse wrote in his email.

For record, Austin Ruse is the long-time President of C-FAM, the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute. I am familiar with the work of C-FAM. They are an outstanding organization and have done much good, as has UNCRC.

But we have to be honest in our arguments. How can we call ourselves Christians if we do not respect truth and stretch it to fit our agenda?
