Unanswered prayers for financial help

How does one persevere in prayer for a specific intention for financial help, especially when there is either a “no” from God, or no answer at all…

And when that need has a deadline, but again, no answer from God at the moment.

Just trying to discern and am very confused. Should one just stop the process of something they felt strongly was God’s will because there is no answer to prayer? Or is the silence a “no”?

Maybe God is giving you a lesson in perseverance. I would be weary of "thinking something is Gods will especially if its not working out.
 
I recently got a “no” answer to prayer, but what really helped was changing my request from what I wanted to asking for wisdom and peace. To that I got a “yes.” 🙂

Perhaps the answer to your prayer is in your hands; working more and/or spending less. Sometimes the answer may involve a complete change in plans. In our case it was not moving. Others may have to put off education for a while. I don’t know what your situation is, so can’t do better than that.

Except to say, we must ALWAYS persevere in prayer - we just can’t make demands on Him.
 
A prayer not given a “yes” in time is the same as a “no”

Remember Gods desire for you is not always what you have in mind or aligned with your will. Perservear in prayer for Gods will and for you to be open to his direction.

Whenever I have an issue like this, I remember this great clip from the theology movie “Evan Almighty” 😉

God answers all our prayers - He loves us, we are His children. I have been told God does not answer a prayer with a “no” but rather he has three ways to answer our prayers:
  1. Yes
  2. Not yet
  3. I have a better way
When you think God is telling you “no” in answer to a prayer, start looking for the better way!

Could you be more specific? Financial help with food? clothing? rent? mortgage? utilities? medical attention?
 
One thing we forget: sometimes we can be the answer to another person’s prayers.

Can you share some details on what you’re dealing with? Maybe the posters here could offer some helpful advice.
 
I’m so sorry for all that you are going through! :console: We are in the same boat with many urgent, yet unanswered prayers. I don’t have advice how to deal with the frustration and hurt this can cause. I haven’t figured that out yet myself. But I do know this is a time of testing the strength of our faith. Not whether we pray hard or long enough and finally get our needs met/prayers answered, but whether or not we will still willingly love and serve God even if our most basic needs or fervent desires go unmet.

It’s very hard to endure this, I know. But some of the most devout people on earth are poor, neglected, abandoned, needy, seriously ill, etc. They may never get their prayers answered in this life, but if they continue to love and serve God even still, they will be among the best off/richest in the kingdom of heaven! :). Had you talked to a social worker to see what services you might qualify for and community resources?

I believe help is available, that it’s a question of finding it.

You never know. I’ve got that kind of help in a bountiful way sometimes after getting close to the edge — and then still ending up in the position of needing it again, after a while. 😉

I suspect it also involved family members praying for me, all of whom are better folks than I am, especially much more patient.

I saw this post a few days ago and meant to respond then.

I noticed that in Feb of 2012 you were asking advice on NFP/birth control.

Then in Jan of 2014 you were sharing your struggle of not being able to move on after you had a tubal ligation and were wondering if you should get it reversed. It seemed like you had trouble forgiving yourself for this. You mentioned the cost of the reversal and that this was a barrier for you. You know the church does not require you to go through with the reversal. You have 6 kids, at least one with autism, limited financial resources and you are over 40.

I may be completely off base but if this is the situation you need financial help for I would consider it a no and consider God is asking you to forgive yourself and be present to the children you have.
 
Mark 11:24 reveals Jesus said regarding all things that you pray for and ask - believe you have received them, and they will be granted.

Have faith and believe. And as you pray, move your feet. Explore, and seek, and search. You will be guided to the answer.

May God bless you. I pray that He will bestow blessings upon you.
 
Maybe your bad decision to have so many kids is why you have problems. God if he exists is trying to tell you that there are consequences to as Pope Francis says “breading like a rabbit”.

I personally feel like your remark isn’t very charitable. And I hate to say this, I have a lot of children too, and can tell you straight up, I couldn’t whip up my own batch by myself. We don’t make our own babies alone. If I could, there would have been a few more of my children with me on this side of heaven. But God in His infinite wisdom and mercy had other plans for them.

Every human life is made by God to show His goodness.

I can’t speak for the pope. He knows his reasoning for that quote.

But I can say this much. Here shortly in the United States, society is going to experience full-force the consequences of an aging population whose numbers exceed birth rates, and the population of children and young adults. The US labor Bureau expects the medical industry and construction to have the greatest number of job openings through 2022. The 2012 to 2022 job projections are a result of approximately 10,000 baby boomers reaching retirement age each day. The govt knows that there aren’t enough genXers, genY’s, and millenials to keep up with the increasing demands of an aging population. The U.S. will definitely have to utilize immigrants in the labor market to provide various services.

Given the history of the State of Texas, I would be concerned with the education and well-being of a particular population of children whose ancestors hail from the nations south of the border. I would do my best to make certain they are happy, educated young people with opportunity and hope for a thriving future as American taxpayers.

I’m not trying to be facetious. I live in Florida and my children are of Hispanic descent, so I do my best to give them a healthy respect for their culture and for being an American citizen. All of my older children look forward to living well, having a decent source of income, paying their fair share of taxes, including getting the nation’s debt down and rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, and just living the American Dream in general.

And they’re going to have to do this while still meeting the demands of helping older generations, whose numbers far exceed that of their own, gracefully age and die with dignity. Our current youth and future generation face a great challenge ahead.

I can only hope and pray that this country will make it through and remain the incredible nation it is.

Wow, just wow. Children are always a blessing. A blessing that comes with enormous responsibility, yes, but to imply that they are negative consequences is entirely unbiblical, uncharitable, and un-Christian.

I am appalled.

I don’t think TexasCatholic was saying that children are themselves negative consequences, but that there can be negative consequences to having children. Two I can think of offhand are poverty and health problems for the mother.

The fact that there can be negative aspects to having children doesn’t make them any less of a blessing.

Seeing as his posts were removed…and based on uncharitable posts on other threads, I think he did mean it that way…just saying.
