Is it sin to have attraction/romantic love towards same-sex person but actually not doing anything about it except acknowledging it. I mean one can’t choose who to fall for or lie to himself/herself.

Sin is an act of the will. Attractions and emotions are not willful acts. Therefore, they cannot be sinful.

  1. If it’s impossible to avoid, then you’re not sinning. As Edward George says, sin is an act of the will.
  2. SSA is not an act. It is a situation. If you don’t act on it you are no guilty of anything.

This reminds me of something someone said yesterday which basically was that our thoughts can be sinful if we dwell on a sinful idea for example, is this so?

3 For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,
but mighty - through God - to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Not sinful. You can’t address it and move on, without acknowledging it first.

In fact, I would argue that doing anything OTHER than acknowledging it could actually lead to sin. Acknowledging it and saying, “this is a fact, I need to work through how I intend to act/react in response” could very much help you figure out how to cope. Denying it could lead to the urge becoming so strong that you end up committing sinful actions to avoid dealing with the situation. For example, it’d be a sin to become romantically involved with an opposite-sex partner solely to prove (to yourself or others) that you don’t feel attracted to someone of the same sex.
