In risking the possibility of sounding a little “off center”, I admit that my consciousness has been raised to the things going on in the world more so than when I was younger. As a young person, things never got to me the way they do now.

I get mental pictures of how people mistreat each other, how some suffer, and the suffering of animals. These things never occurred to me in the past. I just moved forward and did not dwell on it.

For instance even things that would not bother others bother me. I sometimes go online to find out how different foods are prepared. I ran across a youtube clip showing the preparation of octopus, which I never in my life ever prepared. In this video a man was demonstrating how to cook octopus. He had a small baby octopus, and he plunged it into a frying pan with either water or hot oil in it. As it squirmed, I freaked out.

There are other ways of cooking these things, like the bigger ones; they have to remove the beaks and other inedible parts, thus killing it before it is cooked. I guess you might say that any cruelty to any living thing just breaks my heart. If we lived in a sugar coated world and none of these things came to the fore, I probably wouldn’t care, because I wouldn’t know about them.

Some say I’m too sensitive and should toughen up.

Please pray for me.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to her assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

You are toughened,🙂
I find that to be sensitive in this world means you must be tough to start with.
To be sensitive to the needs of the poor, means you must be toughened against
the modern excuses of relativism.
To be sensitive to suffering is to become tough enough to face reality and not
leave it to someone else to do something about it.
To see the sick, the lost, the frightened and all other things requiring our charity, our love.
To see all these errors and to be moved to help relieve suffering is one of the toughest things a person can do.
Go and pray outside an abortion clinic and you will soon realise
what is true toughness and what is true weakness.
In this world today, to openly follow Christ is one of the toughest things a person can do.
To do it with sensitivity and Humility is Christ like
and I don’t know of anyone tougher or more sensitive than our Lord.

Lord,

I pray that we recognise the gift of our hearts being opened by God
to see all forms of suffering as a gift of charity and love.
That we have been gifted the opportunity to pray for mankind,
to feed the starving to quench the thirst of those in need,
to hold the hand of one in fear, to clothe the poor,
to love our neighbour and our enemy.
Lord I pray that we all receive these gifts daily.

Amen.

Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust, saying,
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations,
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials,
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles and sorrows,
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts,
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Thy grace alone can assist me,
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Thy tender love as Father and Savior,
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me,
Jesus, help me!
When sickness and loneliness overcome me,
Jesus, help me!
Always, in weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind,
Jesus, help me and never forsake me.
Amen

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal Arizona Fat Gir. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Arizona Fat Gir’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular Arizona Fat Gir), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

I have the same problem. I am VERY sensitive. So, for the time being, I avoid the news, dramas, and things online like you just mentioned, because it sticks in my mind, upsets me, like post traumatic stress disorder, sometimes, for a long time.

I know where you are coming from. I think that we are like electric transformers, too much voltage running through it can burn it out. So we can only take a bit of the world’s suffering at a time, unlike Jesus who took it all. Knowing he already did can take off some of the burden on us because we already know the end of the book.
But I must admit hearing about beheadings not only of the two Japanese recently but also of children, cruel punishments, ongoing murder, it’s enough to make any sensitive person come apart. But being totally hardened is not a good thing either, going from pleasure to pleasure without bothering about the needs and pain of others.
Yet, in our society, happiness depends on being oblivious to human suffering. There should be a balance for the basic things what we need to live, a certain amount of joy and optimism to get through the day. Doctors need to eat, sleep and even take vacations otherwise they would not be good for helping others.

Praying that the Lord may grant you all necessary graces.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Hi Arizona, I had a similar experience w/ frog preparation,
I watched the servant who prepared it flayed the skin of a bullfrog
alive and it was still trembling after being flayed, I DIDN’T
eat the meat, altho the others said it just tasted like chicken.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is w/ you,
blessed are you among women,
blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now, and at the
hour of our death.
Amen.

Prayer for Sensitive People

Dear God,
I come into this moment whole and sovereign. I ask that you assist me in quieting my thoughts, relaxing my body and come into communion with you.

Please bring me people, places, situations and things that will benefit my sensitive nature and lifestyle. I am open to all good things flowing into my life and heart.
in Jesus’ Name, I pray.
