In the extremely rare cases of demonic possession and even more rare cases where the possessed person dies from the malnutrition and maltreatment from the possession, does the soul still acquire salvation and enjoy heaven? After all, some demonic possession occur in devout people. Would God not be merciful because it is through no fault of their own that the demons torment them…

If they co-operated with Grace, they would be saved and may even avoid purgatory as their sufferings would have been enormous on earth. If they reject (freely) God’s grace they will be spending a lot longer with the horned beasts
 
can a saved person be ‘possessed’ ?

Grace saves us, and Grace can’t exist with mortal sin or
evil… i think… lol
