As someone mentioned, sit as close to the front as you can. It does help. We have a priest with a thick accent. I think he’s Korean. It can be hard to understand him, but sitting up front away from distractions (fussy children, people walking in late, people talking, etc) helps because you can focus better on the words. Taking notes is a good idea too. 
Hopefully you got some good ideas on here…and most of all, keep your priest in your prayers daily and have patience with him.
