The talk on St. Faustina has me remembering a curious interesting book with Imprimatur is “Under Angel Wings” written by Sister Maria Antonia and who before entering the Convent was known as Ceci or Cecilia, she was Brazilian.
Cecy Cony (1900-1939) tells story after story of how her Guardian Angel (whom she calls her “New Friend”) kept her from lying, stealing, revenge, immodesty, etc.–and from watching certain movies. Imprimatur.
And I will add on, she was also “saved” by her Guardian Angel when Cecy says she was scooped up at the City Plaza during Mardi Gras and we are talking about Brazil here, so we have kind of an idea how Mardi Gras is.

What is interesting is you see when she lived, she is very contemporaneous with in fact, Sister (Saint) Faustina Kowalska who in comparison lived from 1905-1938 ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faustina_Kowalska ).

I will add on, Cecy never sees the face of the angel and that is part of the book. To me the relationship is not so much as like an “apparition” but that she senses the presence of the Angel. A relation like this. In one part she reaches to take an apple from a tree but some strange force keeps her from stealing.

Here is the amazon page on the book: amazon.com/Under-Angel-Wings-Maria-Antonia/dp/0895556472/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1349052831&sr=1-1&keywords=guardian+angel+angel+wings , I actually have the cover of the 2nd image with Cecy’s picture on the cover.

So, talk of Angels seems to have gotten quite a bit of discussion lately but this book was really fascinating though it is basically about a young girl’s experience and may be geared more towards younger readers or at least the book seems to be sold in that way.

Quite a few interesting tales.

Interesting… You have any links with more of the actual story?

(by the way, the amazon page says the book is for reading by some very young age group, like 14-18, it’s for everyone but I’m saying this because I don’t really think of her as being that “mystical”, this book has the innocence of a very young girl though I think Cecy/Sister Antonia related this after she entered the convent).

It appears this webpage takes heavily from the book

This review is rather comprehensive as well.

Cecy’s Father was a Military Officer, the family did well enough, sort of upper middle class.

Though this was from a time where I believe she lost one of her sisters to a sickness.

Also, we don’t really think of “poor houses” today but there is a poor house in the book, it was near Cecy’s residence and there is a tale in there of how she helped out an infirmed man.

I believe the review describes it: amazon.com/review/REQHPBY8WJYSE/ref=cm_cr_dp_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=0895556472&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=283155&store=books#wasThisHelpful

I am reading it right now actually. It’s cute and edifying. 🙂

Good for you and thank you for telling us! I hope you enjoy it.

It’s exciting because really it feels like one is reading about a little girl’s experiences which they are but Sister Antonia wrote her memoirs as an adult. As an adult per the picture of her with glasses, I think she’s sweet as well.

She may be a “Blessed”, She may be "Blessed Sister Maria Antonia.
