Maybe my point is this:
It’s great that we can sit here and discuss this issue and how it applies to real life. This is an important learning tool and it’s why we come here.
It’s also nice that we get to sit back and call out judgements against people who have to face this problem on a daily basis.
No, sin cannot be condoned…but that does not mean we should not consider the very reality of it and the fact that we live in a sinful world run by sinful humans such as ourselves. We all face our challenges and bear our crosses.
Those officers who work undercover theoretically lying as we’ve discussed are just as human as we are. Some of them are Catholic and struggle with the work they do every day and struggle to do their best to try to make the physical world a better place for everyone. They give up their lives quite literally to uphold the ideals we all hold dear, all so we can sit here and talk about what liars and sinners they are because they do that job.
I say again that I thank the good Lord for removing me from Law Enforcement, and I likewise thank him for having led me there in the first place to see another dimension to the world that most people never experience nor want to experience. Sometimes I wish I could turn it all off and not remember the things I’ve seen.
We do need to recognize that sin is sin and I don’t think any good Christian is going to deny that.
But it seems that it’s easy for some people to make judgments against the souls of people you haven’t met…all I ask is that we all consider the situations they face and realize that in the end it’s God who will judge their hearts and their actions.
ALL of us sin…some of us lie, some of us drink too much, some of us committ adultery, beat our children, kick the dog or committ theft…and not a single one of us has a right to point a finger at anyone and deem them a sinner because they lie.
I think I’m taking this too personally as I’m know that no comments were meant that way, but this is close to my heart due to my history in this field. (not FBI). Actually, the FBI annoys me, as does the DEA, but that’s another story.
But I digress. Thanks for letting me rant a little.
We really need to pray for sinners in uniform…they are the sinners that help keep the sinners from taking the world over from the rest of us sinners!
