I was sexually abused by two people. I now understand that this has largely contributed to my failure connect with or be cared about by anyone or have positive relationships, or to achieve anything meaningful in my life, and sustain it. It would have almost been easier if one or the other had just gone all the way with their destruction. Anyway, here I am stuck in this life

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. The only thing I can tell you is, God loves you so very much, you are his precious daughter, and are of unimaginable worth. I pray for peace and healing in your situation. Know that God is stronger than our hurts, and those who have hurt us, and will carry you through this.

I was molested on a consistent basis for a significant part of my childhood by one family member and neglected by the rest. The pain and problems it caused didn’t really become apparent to me until 2 years ago and it was like all of it got me at once. I checked out from being a dad to my kids for about a year and a half and have vented a lot of anger to family members since then. I haven’t been a good Catholic, maybe even a good human being during that time. But I have a more honest relationship with family now and starting to try to make up for being an absent father to my kids during that time. Finally I feel I’m building substantial relationships instead of insincere ones. I’m taking care of my emotional and physical health for the first time too. I tried to commit suicide one year ago my pain was so intense and I felt so hopeless. It had gotten better since though and I pray that things will get better for you too in the long haul.

I was abused as well by 3 different persons during my childhood. I think I know very well how you feel.

Child abusers should be thrown under the jail and never see the light of day. I was never abused so I can’t say I understand it, I will never fully understand it but I know it’s horrible and the monsters who do it need to rot in prison for life.😦

To the OP: I am not sure where you are located, but in the USA and Canada you can get counseling for yourself at local community mental health centers that is low-cost or even free. You do not have to suffer any longer— there is professional help available.

Please, please, please… To anyone who has experienced this; the hurt and harm is too deep and too wide to cross by yourself. You must seek the help of a counsellor who will help you take this darkness and, by understanding and coming to terms with it; shrink it so small as to fit in your pocket. Yes; it is a part of you; but not the biggest, most important or most defining part. Please do not delay. These terrible things have taken your childhood; do not feed them your 20’s, 30’s etc!

I know how hard it is to make that appointment but don’t think about it; do it! Healing lies on the other side.

All my most heartfelt prayers and best wishes to you and to others on CAF who have been wronged in this way. x

Praying for your intentions. Remember you are a child of God. He loves you & will never leave you.
