What makes someone valuable? I think someone especially depressed. Why do some people have deeper wounds and weakness? Some people are more vulnerable to the outside world. Why? A lot people wonder why I keep asking such questions. I just wonder about particular people I come across. I wonder why did God make someone so weak. I know someone who battling depression on and off for years now. Depression is very real. My God people can lack compassion.

We are valuable because God loves us, and because we have an immortal soul, which will live forever,
It’s true, some suffer more than others, some are not as naturally strong to bear their own burdens, but there is also supernatural strength, which God gives, and we must pray for that every day, and do what we can to grow in our spiritual life and in the understanding of the Catholic faith, which Jesus left for us as a guide.

In all honesty, we are all weak, if someone has strength, it’s there because God put it there, and we are all different, because God wants different things from each of us. He gives us talents and qualities we each need to fulfill our purpose in this life and become saints, and yes it seems like some have better gifts than others, but those gifts are as good as useless if they are not being used for growing in virtue and love for God, and to know and serve Him…there are people who have had less than others with regard to talent and natural strengths, who grew far greater in holiness, because they lived for God, and loved him…

As for why people get depressed and suffer other weaknesses? Well it’s hard to say for sure, since it’s greatly circumstantial, for example, if depression is caused by hormonal imbalances, or if it’s the devil doing it, or if it’s a past sorrow they won’t let go of, or if they’re living their life in a way that’s empty(worldly)…there’s all kinds of reasons for depression, so there can’t be any one answer to “why?”, But we can at least consider, that maybe there is so much depression and other struggles, because not enough people will pray for or reach out to these people…we can’t pin it all on God, He works through us, and if we’re not doing anything, then what can He do?
It’s good to have compassion on our fellow man, and alot of people today do not, but to go even further, who has compassion on God? We are always so ready to blame Him and be angry with Him, but no one loves us and cares for us as much as He does, no one’s heart breaks for us as much as His, and no one knows or understands sorrow as He does…we get angry at Him for the things we do not understand, but even still, He is so patient with us, and loves us all the same.

But besides that, it’s not for us to always know why God does or allow things the way they are, it’s merely our place to trust Him, carry our cross, and follow His commandments, and sometimes when we come across people who are suffering from something and in need of help, this is what God has in mind -

*Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me. Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee? Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.

Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink. I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you covered me not: sick and in prison, and you did not visit me. Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.
And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting. *Matthew 34:46

My son suffered from major depression, low self esteem and low self worth. He also suffered from major depression, anxiety & panic disorders, and suffered through so many fears and phobias that totally controlled his life and left him debilitated. This on top of serious medical issues that he died from in January of 2014, made his life miserable.

He use to say that people like him were put on this earth to suffer and pay the price for the happiness that so many others enjoyed. He really believed this. Like I said, his mind was not thinking right, especially that last year or so, as his health got worse and worse. He didn’t think he was worth anything to anyone and perhaps to even God. Except for me. He knew mom was always there for him and would love him unconditionally.

But, yes, depression is horrible. You don’t believe you are valuable to anyone or even deserve to live. He would occasionally say he just wanted to die. 😦

So sad. I do not know why some fall into such deep bouts of depression.
