Understanding Readings Sans Propers?

Is it just me or do the readings make much less sense w/o the propers? Why are churches always leaving them out?
 
If the cantor is on the ball, he will select songs that convey the same meaning as the propers. If you mean there is no music and they are still omitted, perhaps you could ask your pastor if you could lead them.

You could use the Simple English Propers:

There are video tutorials. Even people like me who don’t read music can follow them along.
