Please pray for my husband and I. I am a Masters level healthcare prof who has been unable to find work in my field and have started searching any field to no avail. Well just went to the store and now my last credit on my card is gone because a bill took the rest out of checking and our last credit. So, now we literally have NO money whatsoever. I am not writing this to ask for money but for prayers. I’ve never been in this situation before and it’s scary. All I have left is a small retirement savings which I am praying about cashing it out. Unemployment has been SLOW with us and we have a meeting with them next week they will decide then if they will give us unemployment or not. So, until then I have to pray about whether to cash the retirment out or not. My husband works but its not enough to pay our student loans and rent, etc. Please pray that God will guide me to find a solution. Thank you and God bless. Also, pray that I may find work.

Did your husband apply for unemployment?

Anyway, I hope you don’t mind I list a few resources. Take what works for you, and just leave the rest for someone else on the forum who might benefit from hearing this.

Have you applied for TANF?

Churches often have assistance. There is Catholic Social Services, and there is also St. Vincent de Paul.

Often utility companies might be willing to work with you on budget payments and possibly there might be some government or local program available. Contact your local utilities for more information. Sometimes, they have free energy-saving programs.

Goodwill might also have information on employment. You might know them just as a thrift store, but besides that, they often have employment programs.

Goodwill might also be able to do an assessment. They are often knowledgeable of, and can sometimes give referrals to the appropriate resources. So, it might be worth calling to see.
 
Oh dear one…we will include you in our prayers…we’re in the same boat…
only add in immigration issues :(…fortunately I have a job at the parish…but it’s rough.
Will put you on the prayer list and will light a 7 day candle for you…prayers being offered. Padre Pio said “Don’t worry…** pray** about everything.”
God is merciful…it’s just hard sometimes to wait to see what His plan is.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I am thinking lately that this may be God’s way of adjusting my path in life as well, maybe I am meant to explore something else, a passion of mine. Please pray that God will guide me in the new direction I am contemplating. A way to make money and love what I do! I am thankful to God for all of you here on this message board. I have been blessed to meet such kind people here. Thank you. I will look into Goodwill as some have mentioned.

A good website I access whenever I try to find work is www.indeed.com. Plug in your zip code. A good way to enter a company is by taking midnight shift work or evening work.

The rules have changed so much with student loans but I remember deferring my loans when I was unemployed. There was a fee but it was a small one. It might be different now…just a thought. I will keep you both in my prayers:gopray2:

Praying my heart out for your financial situation to improve greatly.
 
Thank you again everyone for you prayers! I believe God is answering them. I was able to talk to my retirment person and they are going to be able to send me part of my retirment savings so that I can make it over the next few months. Also, was able to call both my student loans and put them on deferrment for 6mo. Thank you Lord who gives more than all we can ask or imagine. Thank you mother Mary for always looking out for me.
